PureBites Chicken Breast 11.6 oz. - Freeze Dried Chicken Breast Dog Treat Review: Awesome Product, But Ship It Separately From Other Items - The Good: This is a great product: pure (no other ingredients!), freeze-dried chicken pieces for pets. Although targeted at dogs, both of my cats have grain allergies, so are given these as a fantastic alternative to standard treats. They LOVE them! The Bad: Freeze-dried chicken is fragile, and more then once, I've ended up with an inch or two of chicken dust and 3 inches of treats due to damage during shipping. I seem to have the best luck when ordering them on their own so nothing else in the packaging bounces around during shipping and crushes them. The Are You Kidding Me: I decided to "Subscribe and Save" a month ago, since I order these fairly often. I incorrectly assumed that "Subscribe and Save" items ship independently of regular merchandise on desertcart. WRONG. With the very first order, some brainiac in the warehouse decided it would be a good idea to pack these with a 40 lb. bag of cat litter. They showed up this week in the form of mostly shards and powder, with a few chunks here and there. I contacted desertcart, included a photo of the damaged goods, but have not heard back. So, to support a great product but warn all of you, I decided to include my experience as part of the review. Big misstep on desertcart's part, hoping they make it right. 5 stars to PureBites for an incredible, healthy, reasonably priced product. Big Fat Zero to desertcart for awful shipping and poor customer experience. First zero desertcart's gotten from me since 1997, very unhappy shopper. Review: Nice clean product - Although it is expensive my dog loves them so does the cat she is always trying to take this product away from him. I bought this to use as a bile buster in between meals especially in the middle of the night because my dog has bilious vomiting disorder and his stomach fills up with bile within 2-2.5 hrs after eating so he has 5 small meals a day then give him 1-2 pieces of this product to soak up bile without loading him down with calories.

Great product for dogs or cats
I was reading a lot of the reviews and some of them seemed really bad I have tried many of the freeze dried treats offered and these are the only ones that meet all my requirements. 1. I have 4 indoor cats and 2 dogs and I also feed and care for a colony of feral cats that averages about 12 so I have to order large bags of treats that can be fed to both, in this bag there are large chunks for dogs and smaller pieces for cats and the bottom of the bag can be mixed with wet food for both. 2. Price for the amount of treats. This product is the only one that offers this size bag! Large chunks can be easily cut with scissors if needed. 3. Every single pet I care for thinks these are the best thing on the planet and are the only ones they will ALL eat! 4. Quality of this product has always been good and yes some chickens (like some people) have more fat than others but if they super dehydrate the product (which they could) you would end up with a bag of dust and your pet would not have any treats. So buy with confidence that although a single bag might be slightly more or less dehydrated most bags are of high quality after all I have bought about 20 bags so far and will continue to buy 2 a month as my standard treat for my pets.

My three cats go bonkers for these, but half the bag is just chicken dust!
If I could give a review on just the taste of the pieces that were whole enough to eat....my kitties and I would give it a 5-5, 5-5, 7-7 toes up!! That's with using 4 as a perfect score. One of my cats has 7 toes on each front paw. :) These are perfect for them and maybe more than I should spend on a fixed income but, compared to others, they're a great deal cheaper. ONLY PROBLEM... when more than half the pkg is completely chicken dust...it's really disappointing. I've been getting the smaller pkgs for a while to be sure they would like before investing in the bigger package. My kitties go koko puffs over them. Every night they wait for their "hide and seek treat" and I didn't dare forget to play with them or three, very large and heavy may I add, kitties would jump up on my bed and keep pull my covers down with every toe they posseSs until I'd give in and get up to hide their last snack before sleepies time. This became a really fun ritual. A little bit of fun hunting before settling down for the night. I love and trust these so much because I know this is the same food source that survivalists fill their shelters with. And you dont mess with the food of a survivalist. They are really serious about their chicken. They get a much larger quantity, of course, but the quality, or it used to be, is the same. This is real, wholesome chicken. Just like the kind grandma made for Sunday dinner. They even get the potatoes to go with it. just add water, seasonings and it's like grandma came to visit. I wanted to buy exactly what they used. Perhaps the pkg was just a little larger than I needed, and it wasnt a cheap snack, but a few of them showed me this and said it's the same stuff, just a much smaller package. I'm pretty sure even grandma wouldn't be smiling her sweet little smile if she got what I got before the bad was even half empty. But that's another story. By time I was halfway through the bag I noticed there were very few bite size pieces left. So I gave them the scrunched up chicken. That quickly turned to chicken dust as even those size pieces were an anomaly. My little hunters, they licked it up like, hey this is new. But kept waiting for their snack, like it was an appetizer ,whenit was turning out to be a sad joke. On me. Needless to say I had some very very unhappy kitties. And no sleep that night or the next few nights. They just didn't understand. They'd look at the bag, then wait expectantly for the game to start. For them it was like, o.k. you have the bag..I see it...u aren't fooling any of us, so where are the goods?? I felt like I was facing an angry mob at a family prison picnic ( if they were to have such things), and the hungry inmates (who are part of the real M.O.B. if you know what I mean...I'm Italian and they take their adopted family history very SERIOUSLY) and they want to know why you are holding out on them. The chicken dust just wasn't cutting it. I'm really glad I don't own a horse. Seriously though, I felt really bad. Not just because of all the money I wasted but because they got used to this fun little nightly ritual. So did I to tell the truth. It was kinda like playing Easter egg hunts with my kids again. Only I didn't have to keep reminding them because their treat was eat e n on the first round. So now Im stuck with a dilemma. I either have to find another company that has a similarly priced product, which is not that easy unless I believe all the new good info from my survivalist buddies about the U.S. changing their inspection protocols for any meats coming from China (or any country for that matter). That and all their combined knowledge, research and statistics showing me that there have been more issues with American made meat products and quiet internal recalls (that we rarely hear about because it never becomes front page news) in the past 4-6 years than there have been in all the other countries combined. Now I'll admit that some, (ok many) of these doomsday preppers and survivalist that you see on tv are pretty out there, with paranoid schizoid personality disorders, but these guys and gals are about as smart and down to earth as you can get. So trust me, as I trust them, they don't mess about their meat. So my alternatives are: Find a different product...one that is hopefully comparable in price and value. And taste of course. Find a different SELLER for the same product. As it seems its Amazon's packing practices that are creating chicken dust, Start buying in bulk the product my buddies buy. It's not cheap when you consider you need to buy it all in one shot, especially if you are on a fixed income... but it's definitely cheaper in cost per ounces etc, AND it's definitely real, human food you can eat/share if you ever have to "bug out" with your buddies ' Start making my own. Which I trust even less than a third world country to do properly, as I don't have anything to deep freeze meat with or honestly, even where to start. Or last, which my baby hunters will hate. Either get them used to chicken dust or find a totally different treat. There are some on the list that are obviously a nobrainer, for me anyway: I can't freeze dry meat. Not by myself or without really good helpers. The kind that do it and then include my name in the credits. Find a different product;. I've been looking. I've found one that could fit the bill that might actually be cheaper. Says it's made in U.S.A. but produce comes from China. This all comes down to trusting my nerdy statistical, researching doomsday buddies. I am inclined to believe their evidence. Convince my babies, chicken dust tastes good: NOT!! My only definite NO in the bunch Quit feeding/giving my furry babies this wonderful treat. If it only were as easy as that sounds.... Last, but not least, I think: Find a different seller for the same 100% Freeze Dried Chicken Breat meat. This sure would be easier if Amazon refunded either my money or better yet, sent me what I ordered gain BUT this time package it more carefully. There is a company out there, one I'm considering more than others is Whole life, those not in silver package which is being phased out. They now freeze dry ;) then vacuum-seal the package and last, put it in its own individual box. It's goes for 29.75, Amazon Prime for 10 oz. PureBites is 23.39 for 11.6 oz. . So for this option it's $6 more for 1.6 oz. Or maybe I should say it's 6.00 more for chicken bites that are actually chicken bites .themes two were found on EBay: One of the survivalist products is: Mountain House, 100 %freeze dried chicken cubes(made for human consumption) 44.95 for 17 oz. It comes in a big tub that can stay fresh for 25 years. Full of individual packets so u can just take out what you need. Another from eBay, Grandma Lucy's artisan cubed chicken is a meal mix with first ingredient chicken breast, organic, hormone band antibiotic free meat these are just like meals you could make yourself. Dogs formula has some potatoes carrots blueberries etc 68.39 for 10 pound bag. So I guess there are still options. I just thou :-) :) when I finally found this product, it was perfect and the cats loved it. So I'm starting all over again. Maybe if there are enough complaints about meat being dust they will do like whole life did. Vacuum seal their bags and put in a special box. Check, I would have been happy if they just hadn't put it in the same box as cat food, jars of stuff etc. It might have arrived looking like it should :/ Well happy hunting kjnolan
