Instructions from other users are not helpful.** A: There is a groove in the part of the clamp that is not attached. Put ice in, pull the bag over the taped part of the clip flat and centered. Bend the clip at the hinge to go over the folded bag sitting on the other side of the clip. It is hard to clip and release but they do not leak. These are used in hospitals. **Q: How to open clamp closure** A: I’m not really sure if I understand the question because it looks like most of it is missing. But it looks like someone wants to know about the closure. It’s a plastic clamp that has a hinge on one end and a “V”-clasp at the other end. To open it you push and hold the clasp in, pulling and releasing it. I’m not really sure what else i can even say about it. It’s a basic clip; you basically unclip it. **Q: can these be used with hot water ?** A: I have not seen anything advising against use with hot water but I don't believe that is the intended use for these bags. These are the same as what were used during my knee surgery when I was in the hospital and I believe they are intended for use with crushed or pellet ice of some sort. They don't leak, and are a good size for hip replacement surgery recovery. They are very affordable for semi-disposable use.
