Excellent book for learning bass from Berklee. All of their books are modeled after their courses and of high quality. This is not a 'method' book, but goes into good depth on the art of actual forming and playing bass. Good theory and practical examples. The on-line audio for the book is excellent.

I churn through a lot of these books and this one is top notch. Great for theory and bass line creation, and particularly for bumping up your sight reading. I love the play-alongs.

All I can really review at this stage is Amazons customer service. I've shopping shopping with him for several years and never had a problem, always been excited. As for the book, it seems okay but haven't had a really good chance to have a good look at it as I've been too busy with other projects.

Good for jazz newcomers. The book take you, step by step, to jazz musical language applied to bass guitar.

Great book, very nicely written pathway to learning how to walk but organized to create your own original ideas by listening to basslines from 3 bassists and getting a feel for what you can do with rhythm and originality......

One of the only books that will cover the electric and acoustic string bass in very good detail.

A good foundation that is built on historical perspective with supported practice exercise. A must for all bass player irrespective of playing ability. I would recommend that should this book be updated then, Berklee standards might not permit, tabs and notation should be included.

Ottimo metodo, che si focalizza veramente sullo studio del genere in questione. Al contrario di altri metodi, questo arriva direttamente al cuore del discorso, senza dilungarsi sul come eseguire le tecniche o sulla spiegazione di teoria di base. Il libro non è adatto a chi si trova alle prime armi, richiede infatti una discreta capacità di lettura e una buona conoscenza dell'armonia di base, senza la quale non si riesce ad apprezzare in pieno il contenuto del metodo,riducendolo ad un mero campionario di Esercizi di esecuzione.
