Work almost of App,Just connect with mobile phone/TV or projector than can mirror screen immediatedly . Except Paid app.And no need power supply.it's convenient.

Is this used for display onky or can i connect my phone to my monitor and use the monitor to play?

Don’t see why not. I’ve not tried it that way but I hook mine to the tv or a projector and works just fine.

Will it work with fitness apps like Peleton or Zwift?

I don’t know anything about those apps but anything that displays on your iPhone will show up on your TV.
