They expect you to have a wristwatch or a smart phone with you, I guess. I gave up on wristwatches years ago; for some reason, ALL of them run slow when on my wrist (but not if I leave them at home). As for smart phones, I tend to forget mine, and if I do have it, it's hiding at the bottom of my purse. I have a pocket organizer in my purse, so I just drop this watch in one pocket and the fob in the pocket next to it, so it's easy to find and easy to get hold of but not easy for a potential pickpocket to spot or grab. What I like best about it is, it reminds me of my Grandad's pocket watch, and my Dad's that he got when he gave up on wrist watches constantly being wrecked by his work. It has an intricate design, like theirs, but prettier, and silver color instead of brass; and it runs on battery instead of having to be wound each night.
