Excellent little pump
This is a terrific little pump, especially considering how inexpensive it is. It comes with two sets of tubing, a pair of gloves, and four hose clamps, which comprise a nice value added. I have used it thus far to remove the engine oil from a Promaster van, along with about half the ATF in the same van. In a Miata MX5, it left about a quart of engine oil in the oil pan, so not a great job there. It works quickly and efficiently, taking about 5 minutes to drain 5 quarts of oil. You want the engine oil warm, but not too hot. The manual gives a specific temp range for use. I found the suction tube is rigid enough to function well, but pliable enough to be easy to handle. I bought this to replace a Mityvac MV7201, which costs 5 times as much, and was a big disappointment. I don't know how long this will last, but first impressions are excellent. One gripe, which is minor, is that it is a bit noisy when pumping. But it's doing the job, and running the electric motor makes some noise. I can live with that. One additional feature, that should be obvious, but is still worth saying, is that you can put your used oil directly from the sump through the pump and directly into a recycling jug. A couple of suggestions I have from the get go - keep the caps for the pump, so that after use, the pump stays lubricated, and oil doesn't leak out. And find something - caps, corks, etc. to plug the ends of the tubes, so that no residual oil drips out when you're not using it. Bottom line: excellent little pump that can make oil changes and automatic transmission maintenance much easier. 18 month follow-up: I have continued to use this on a few different vehicles. It has consistently performed well, and shows no signs of failing.

Made short work of doing a transmission fluid exchange
This is a huge time saver doing a quick transmission fluid exchange in my โ14 Silverado. The pump works great, but two issues I had. The cord to the power clips had to be separated with a knife to lengthen the distance between the clips so I could attach them to my battery. The second issue. The kit comes with 4 tubes, a larger diameter softer hose and a smaller diameter hose with adapter to fit the larger hose. I found I couldnโt insert the larger hose all the way down my dipstick tube. So I used the smaller diameter hose to get it down to the pan, and attached it to the larger tube. What I found was when the pump was turned on, the larger hose collapsed under the suction and really slowed the process down. It was still working, but was taking a long time extracting a gallon of fluid. The fix for this is to use the harder smaller diameter hose in the dipstick tube, then cut maybe a 6-8โ piece(or for your application), and use the included hose adapter to fit the smaller tube to the larger tube that fits on the pump. This helped tremendously. Aside from that, which isnโt the actual pumps fault it is a great must have item for making routine maintence a breeze. Even if you plan on dropping the pan and changing filter, youโll want this pump to avoid the inevitable fluid spillage when dropping the pan. Would highly recommend this to any DYIโer

good pump, not so good hose, read comments
For a fairly low price on this thing, the pump part of it really works quite well. The only thing about it is that the intake hose is rolled up when it is shipped and doesn't really straighten out really well. this causes a little bit of a problem when you put it down the dipstick tube to extract the oil because once the tube gets into the oil reservoir area, it starts to bend again and it probably has a hard time reaching the bottom of the reservoir. Fortunately I had a small piece of hard oil resistant semi-clear plastic tubing that I attached to the hose that it came with. The pump worked really well with that. If you don't have that you kind of have to pull the original hose up and down when extracting oil. I imagine if I had used a heat gun on the original hose I probably could have gotten it to straighten out or if i put a piece of small non bendable wire into the hose, that would keep it straight. In any event other than that, this thing worked quite well. It saves you from having the unplug the drain plug to extract oil. A lot of the newer cars have a metal washer/gasket that you have to buy each time you loosen it. this pump will save you from having to buy it every time. I've used it several times for oil changes and is still working great. Just my own opinion but I kind of think that loosening the drain plug to extract oil puts a lot of stress on the oil pan which might cause it to leak down the road. so that is another reason why I like this pump over removing the drain plug all the time.

Careful
Garbage. Worked decently one time. The 2nd time it wouldn't turn on, then motor started smoking. I was just a few days past my return window, of course.

Makes changing oil quick and easy
This is a great little tool, just push the hose down the dipstick pipe and and suck all the engine oil out without needing to lift the vehicle or get under it, no underside panels to remove. You can change your oil in 15 minutes and not get yourself covered with oil. Works on the transmission too, although you still need to get under the vehicle to drop the pan and change the filter, but at least you don't have a pan full of transmission fluid to deal with.

This thing really sucks!
I have been changing my oil for 50 years - first with a pan then a manual vacuum bottle extractor. I decided to try a pump because I couldn't get replacement suction hoses for the manual pump. This is the easiest, fastest and cleanest oil change experience I have ever had! The pump self primes rapidly and drains 5 quarts in under 2 minutes! It leaves very little residual in the tubes and it gets all of the oil. The one downside is that the tubes aren't as heat resistant as they should be and they won't last long. Overall, well worth the money! Update#1 the first inlet hose lasted for three oil changes and wouldn't move oil on the fourth. Still love this pump, however!

Kind of slow and I'm not sure if you get all the oil out of your pan
I wasn't happy with this product because it took too long and I wasn't sure if all the oil was out like you would get on a traditional oil change but in a quick pinch, it works good
