Smooth Operator in My Kitchen
I've been calling them Chippy Insides for as long as I can remember, those weekly mashed potatoes that get us through colder months. The Zulay ricer has become my silent partner in this culinary ritual. What surprised me most wasn't just the smooth, lump-free texture it produces consistently, but how it's quietly efficient at its one job. The other evening I accidentally discovered a delightful trick - I roasted potatoes first, then pushed them through the ricer with their skins still on. Suddenly I had both potato skins and perfect mash in one go. It's the kind of small victory that makes you feel clever in the kitchen. Cleaning this gadget, however, presents its own challenge. The potato starch has a peculiar determination to cling to every surface, requiring a patience I don't always possess. Still, it's a minor inconvenience for a tool that performs so reliably. After months of weekly use, it shows no signs of wear. For someone who values consistency in their mashed potatoes and has a dedicated space for such a specialised tool, this ricer quietly earns its place in the kitchen drawer.

Works Great as a Tuna Press (and Potatoes Too)
I actually bought this mainly to use as a tuna press, and it’s been working really well for that. It squeezes out the liquid easily without making a mess, which is exactly what I needed. I have used it for potatoes too, and it does a nice job there as well. The build feels solid and sturdy. It doesn’t flex or feel like it’s going to give out when you put some pressure on it. That was one of my concerns going in, but it hasn’t been an issue. Cleaning is pretty straightforward. Nothing gets stuck in weird places, and it rinses out without much effort. Overall, it’s a simple tool that does what it’s supposed to do. If you want something that can handle both potatoes and things like tuna, this works just fine.

The Tuna Hack!
Who would've thought that a potato ricer could become an essential tool for draining tuna? I certainly didn't until I stumbled upon this ingenious hack, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer. For the longest time, I struggled with soggy tuna salad. No matter how much I drained it, it always seemed to retain excess water, resulting in a less-than-appetizing texture. But then I discovered the magic of using a potato ricer to drain tuna, and my tuna salad game has never been the same. The potato ricer effectively presses out the excess liquid from the tuna, leaving it perfectly drained and flaky. No more soggy messes, no more disappointing textures. Now, when I mix in mayo or other ingredients, I'm left with a tuna salad that's just the right consistency—no mushiness in sight. It's incredible how a tool designed for mashing potatoes can be repurposed to solve such a specific kitchen problem. But trust me, once you try this hack, you'll wonder how you ever made tuna salad without it. The potato ricer has earned its spot as a versatile and indispensable tool in my kitchen, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to elevate their tuna salad game.
