I'm not sure if EBC has done something new, or if it's just my personal threshold for what noise I will tolerate from a brake pad, but these pads are the quietest metallic pads I have ever used. They also have a phenomenal life expectancy. My bike weighs about 1,000 lbs. with my tour pack, more when I'm loaded down for a trip with my luggage and wife, and I often have heavier braking situations to stop all that mass, yet I still get over 30,000-ish miles out of these, at least in the fronts. My bike has linked braking so whether I touch the rear brakes or not, at speed the bike's computer is applying the rear brakes even if I don't touch the pedal. Consequently, the rear will wear out about as fast as the fronts (give or take). They do take a little bit to break in, but nothing too bad, and they take a little longer to warm up when riding but, again, nothing you'll likely notice. I would definitely recommend these pads, particularly if you go long distances and if you want lots of braking power.
