I bought this bird feeder as part of my mission to provide premium live entertainment for my 3 indoor cats, and it has definitely delivered. The birds took to it quickly, and because of the small holes in the tray section, the ground feeders are also getting plenty of bonus snacks. Between the birds, squirrels, chipmunks, bunnies and whatever other woodland creatures are apparently on the neighborhood group chat, this thing stays busy. The cats are thrilled. Literally filling it every other day. The solar light actually works surprisingly well too. I expected more of a faint glow situation, but it gives off a nice amount of illumination at night and looks really pretty in the yard. It’s also pretty easy to refill, although I’ve found it’s much easier to take the feeder down and set it on the ground first. The way the hanging chain passes through the lid makes filling it while it’s hanging kind of awkward. Not a huge deal, just something worth mentioning. My biggest complaint is that the hook/metal hardware is already starting to rust, which is disappointing. Because of that, I probably wouldn’t hang it from anything you really care about staining or damaging long term. Overall though, the birds love it, the ground critters love it, and most importantly my cats are getting top-tier CatTV content every day.

This is a beautiful solar light & functional bird feeder. I hung mine on a Shepard hook, if you fill it up too high with seed it minimizes the solar light at night, so I fill mine about a fourth of the way with bird seed so the birds can eat & at night it shines bright. It would also just make a simple beautiful solar light to hang from a tree or hook with or without seed. It’s beautiful & bright.

For those who may not read instructions: to make this illuminate at night you need to turn it on. You will find the on switch under the lid! We loved this bird feeder so much, we bought a second one. I have a total of four bird feeders on my property. Two of my older bird feeders have not been getting as much love from the birds as this one. We do not have squirrels that bother with the bird feeders. All I can say is these birds feeders are such a hit with song birds! The birds love to congregate. Occasionally, you’ll have a bird fight, because there’s not enough room for everybody. That is why we bought a second one, they were fighting over this bird feeder and bird were not going to the older ones (not this feeder). It is safe to say, they are absolutely loving this bird feeder!

Beautiful during the day and so pleasing lit at night but it has some flaws. Within a couple days I had finches popping on and off frequently and chipmunks going after the dropped seeds. I was very happy with my purchase. The feeder is light in size but sturdy and the interior shield works well to gravity feed the seed. Easy to fill and the light started working after the first afternoon of charging. The big downside for me is that the upper rain shield is smaller than the lower seed tray. The seeds get wet and if there isn’t a significant turnover from feeding birds, the wet seeds germinate pretty quickly, halting the whole feeding process. While the lower tray has drain holes, they aren’t adequate to prevent water from accumulating. That said, if you have a lot of birds coming and have large seeds this may not be a problem. However if you use low waste feed of a size that is good for small birds, this could be problematic. I imagine cracked corn would be terrible. Drainage aside this feeder would need an upper roof much larger than the feed tray to mitigate the rain. If rain is infrequent this is a wonderful feeder.

Very attractive in our yard. Unfortunately,,also attractive to the impish squirrels in the neighborhood, as well!
