Coleman FreeFlow AUTOSEAL Stainless Steel Water Bottle, 40oz., Caribbean Sea

Most people will rate their purchases within the first few days or weeks of ownership. Unfortunately that doesn't reveal much about the longevity of the product being reviewed. My review for this is being shared after owning the 40oz bottle for almost 5 years. My opinion? You MUST buy this bottle. Nothing else will come close to the quality and longevity for the price. I use this bottle and spout literally every day. The spout mechanism is probably the best design I've ever seen. It's more complicated than most other lids/spouts out there, but dang, the engineers who designed this absolutely nailed it. It simply works and it doesn't leak (there are two caveats I will get to on this later) from the spout like pretty much every other water bottle I've owned. Even nearly 5 years later and a ton of abuse, this thing stays leak-free the majority of the time. The insulated metal body is also quite a rock star here. Hot drinks stay hot. Cold drinks stay cold. It's also incredibly durable as well. While most of the time, it's this bottle is used in relatively mundane environments like at home or office, both the bottle and cap/spout have proved to be exceptionally durable and have withstood *a lot* of abuse, such as being tossed in the back of military tactical vehicles where it bounces around, banging into everything. This bottle has also handled drops from less than 10 feet onto concrete and asphalt and drops greater than 10 feet onto softer surfaces such as gravel roads/dirt. Not just once either. It's handled such falls quite a number of times, with one falling lid first from about 5 feet when it was full 40oz of water. The metal body does not seem to care about falls. Heck, the paint barely seems to care either. As complicated as the spout mechanism is, it's very easy to clean with a dish brush and dish soap. The bottle says to hand-wash only, but I toss both it and the lid in the dishwasher and nothing bad seems to have happened. Your mileage may vary though. In terms of the occasional leaks, I've found this can happen from two different reasons. The first is not twisting the lid back on completely. If it's a bit lose, it will leak from the neck (this is a weird sounding sentence). The solution is to just make sure you tighten it more. The next leak area is the spout. I should preface by saying leaks from here have been *exceptionally* rare, at least for me. When it does happen, it's usually because the silicone seal isn't fully seated due to dirt or the button was pushed a small bit. The solution here is to make sure you keep the silicone seal clean and inspect it for damage whenever you clean it. If everything looks fine, but it still leaks, then the button might be slightly jammed open or the mechanism wasn't realigned properly. This will make more sense once you have it in your hands and look at everything. Another cause for leaks is if it's full of hot drinks (or if you fill it and then go onto an airplane). The steam and/or pressure change will pressurize everything. Normally this would improve the seal, but there have been cases where it leaked a little from some part of the bottle. The solution is to keep the bottle upright and release the pressure by pushing the button thing. Finally, in one of the pictures I posted, you can see the carry handle is broken and the spout cover lid is cracked. The cracked spout cover was caused by a 5 foot fall straight-straight down onto concrete while being filled with water. It only cracked the lid. The marks around the hinge were from me trying to remove the lid (to try replacing it, but I failed). The broken carry handle happened literally yesterday (from the day this review is being posted). The handle was up and it fell onto ceramic tile handle first. The bottle was full with water. I don't think anything except metal or TPU/rubber would have survived that impact. The fact this happened nearly 5 years after owning it, this sort of thing was bound to happen and can't be blamed on the build quality. It's also possible that cleaning everything in the dishwasher made it a bit more brittle over time. Who knows. So yes. This is a very long review that rates the product after 5 years of daily use. The conclusion is that it does exactly what it needs to do, is exceptionally durable, and all at a very good price.

I generally don't leave product reviews here on Amazon, but this product warrants one! I work a warehouse job, unloading packages from trucks, and currently during summer it can climb to over 150+ degrees within those metal walled trucks, so before I use to have just a typical cheap clear plastic waterbottle, you put ice in it and within 10 minutes all the ice is melted and water is warm/hot within the trucks I have to work inside of.. One day I spontaneously decided to browse Amazon for a waterbottle and landed on the Avex freeflow vacuum insulated water bottles but noticed their company/bottles were acquired by and rebranded as Coleman (this product), so I decided to buy one for the heck of it.. and wow, i was amazed. Every drink over my 9 hour shift was ice cold.. and each time I opened the bottle to refill it with more water, the ice was still there all the way to the end of my 9 hour shift when I dumped the remaining water and for once, all the remaining ice. I also love the press button drinking system, no need to unscrew the lid to drink from or straw to lift up to take a drink. just take a drink from the spout and it seals up leak tight when you release the button, even times when my bottle gets knocked over by a package or two, not even a single drop spills, unlike my previous plastic bottles. Highly recommend this! worth every penny, and in fact after owning one of these now, I think these are very much under-priced and i'd happily spend double the price now that I know how good of a product it is. - Nearly One Year Update - It is now May 27, 2020, and just checking out my old reviews on Amazon and felt like this review needs an update to mention, that this insulated water bottle has served me well for almost a year now, other than the handle cracked and being unusable (my fault as I dropped it one day), the bottle still keeps my water or other drinks ice cold! I take this to work with me everyday and even sometimes I find myself lazy and forget to empty any left over ice at the end of my work week only for the ice to still be there days later (literally it keeps ice for days straight). A+++ definitely buy this.

I love these bottles. I’ve always bought Colman stuff and these are true to the well manufactured products they sell. They keep my drinks cold all day at work and after work even when it’s over 90 out. I work 10 hrs outside with this bottle in the door of my truck and always have cold beverage at all times. I’ve dropped them several times even with the nice finger handles on them and they always handled the drop onto concrete and asphalt without damage or even a scratch. One could probably last 10 plus yrs if you wanted it to but I get bored with the same color so buy a new one every 2 or 3 yrs. Yes they are expensive a bit but like I said one will last you a long long long time if you want it to. I have more than 5 that I’ve bought over the years just to change the color lol. That’s just me. You won’t be disappointed with your purchase. There well made. The color holds up great without fading and the seals stay good without leaking for as long as I’ve had mine and I have one that’s from when they first came out with this version of the cap that unlocks on the inside so you can clean it better. I even have ones that don’t have the break down feature that’s still sealing without leaks that’s old old. You can also lock the button with ease if you wish so you don’t have a spill by accident or to keep a child from spilling it and it has a nice mouth piece cover that locks tightly to keep you from getting dust or dirt on the part you wrap you’re lips around. All features are extremely easy to use with just one hand also.

Why I like this Coleman water bottle. 1. The very long time that it will keep liquids hot or cold (all day). It appears to do that 20% better than most stainless steel tumblers. 2. It is very helpful to have a "dust cover" lid that keeps construction dust, dirt, etc away from the mouthpiece. 3. After each sip, it auto closes, which helps keep the inside clean and preserves the temperature of the inside. 4. As I sit at my desk, I can sip water without flipping a switch to open an opening, then switching it back closed again. 5. If this falls over, it is not going to leak, make a mess, or ruin my notebook computer. 6. I will probably use the loop to attach to my belt when walking. 7. I like the silicone bottom, which keeps it from sliding and from harming wood tables. 8. This is both beautifully and strongly constructed for years of perfect use. I have been using Yeti tumblers up until buying this Coleman water bottle. Reasons 1 to 8 above are why I switched. I am on a life long healthy diet which involves my drinking 8 cups of water throughout the day. Yes water should be listed as the 6th food group. VERY important to health. This Coleman watter bottle can be wherever I am to provide ice cold water (I don't like drinking warm water): my desk (this allows safely setting right next to my keyboard), my bed room (on my night table as I need a sip in the middle of the night), by the couch (on the end or coffe table) watching tv, in the workshop (right next to my crosscut saw), working outside (house/car maintenance - and other projects), working in the sometimes very hot attic, shopping in the hardware store (loading lumber), in my tractor cup holder (it can take 2 hours to mow my yard sometimes in 100 degree temps), in my car cup holder (for short or very long trips), walking (clipped to my belt), in my back pack, at the beach, biking (in the bike cup holder), in the gym (in the treadmill cup holder), in my gym bag (sideways or any ways). I chose the 24 ounce size due to its ability to be carried and fit so many places. I dont think I would use the 40 ounce version many of the places I go. I am using it just for actual real unadulterated H2O water (not for colas, coffee, etc), so I dont believe that any issues at all will arise in trying to clean the spout mechanism. In long past years, I have had other tumblers/bottles with complex mechanical seals and did not like how sugar and coffee creamer would get deposited in the mechanism, making it difficult or even impossible to clean. Anyway, for me, this is just for my WATER. I allow myself one cup of coffee in the morning and will use a tumbler with a very simple seal which can easily be cleaned. I give this Coleman WATER Bottle 10 stars. Five would be too little. It is a super, amazing tool in my daily tool box, with a specific, focused purpose. Other tools (like a coffee tumbler) may be used for other purposes, with no disrespect to the water bottle.

I have FINALLY found my favorite water bottle. Please keep in mind that my review is solely based on the use of this bottle with ONLY water. I have no intention of using it for coffee or any other beverage. I’m picky and have gone through a lot of bottles. It checked off everything I was looking for in what I consider the perfect bottle: • Autoseal Spout - Perfect for clumsy and forgetful people like me. I’ve had water bottles that I forget to close, or just failed to close, all the way. I would toss it in a backpack or throw it on the couch next to me. Later on I would see a puddle of water. The autoseal feature takes the worry of that away! It seals shut when you’re done drinking. This feature is also great for people who want a quick sip or just want to drink it right away! No need to unscrew this... or flip that open... With this bottle you just squeeze and drink! • Cover for Spout - I had another autoseal bottle before but it didn’t have a cover. After a while I realized that it’s kinda unsanitary and well... gross haha. I know you have mugs and what not that don’t have covers, but you normally don’t just toss those around like water bottles. Especially for me, sometimes I would throw it in a gym bag or backpack (my gym bag had a separate compartment for shoes so don’t be that grossed out haha). • Double-Wall Insulation - This not only keeps my water cold, but it also prevents the bottle from “sweating”! Anytime I put ice in any other water bottle I had, it would always build up condensation and would leave a puddle of water on my desk. Just a warning though... if you drop this bottle, you might jeapordize the functionality of the double wall insulation. I’ve dropped it a couple times and it seems like it doesn’t keep the water as cold as long as it used to, but that was my fault! • Stainless steel - Sturdy material! Also, this doesn’t give any funky taste to the water like what my plastic bottles would do after some time. • 40oz Capacity - I absolutely LOVE that this bottle has all the features mentioned above PLUS it is a large capacity bottle! I’ve found many bottles with the above features, but only had 24oz. I needed one with a larger capacity to help keep me hydrated at work. • Lock Feature - You are capable of locking the bottle to prevent it from accidentally being pressed. It’s a little tough to push the lock from side to side, but I guess that’s a good thing if you have young kids who might try to play with the bottle. • Overall Design - The designers definitely took their time with this because they took into consideration of how people use the bottles, even when it comes to cleaning it. So as you can see I’m very picky about my bottles, hence my long review haha. Here are a few things to keep in mind that I saw as some MINOR cons: • Weight - The bottle itself is pretty heavy compared to standard bottles, but that’s expected since it is stainless steel, double wall insulated, and it is 40oz. It is definitely heavy when full of water. One time after a really tough workout with my arms (and it didn’t help that I hadn’t worked out in a while), I could barely lift the bottle because it was so heavy and I was fatigued. I know I sound like a weakling, which I am haha, but just wanted to warn you. Don’t underestimate the weight of this bottle. • Hook - The hook can snap in place, but when you don’t, it tends to go over the spout. This isn’t really a huge problem but can be annoying at times. • The bottle can’t fit into standard car cup holder. However this isn’t a problem for me because I can just put the bottle in the passenger seat. Wouldn’t have to worry about it leaking cause of the autoseal feature.

This cup is better than I expected. It's sturdy, ergonomic (it has an indent near the top that's handy for grasping), and the spout is comfortable to drink from and as spill-proof as advertised. The paint surface has a light texture, so it isn't slick and slippery. The inside is not coated (which I prefer). A pleasant surprise is the subtle rubber base, preventing noise and slippage. The 24oz size is in the sweet-spot -- just about as big as is convenient to carry around, and it fits easily into a car cup holder. What could be better is the insulation. It's just "ok", not nearly as good as an MiiR or Yeti, much less something like a Zojirushi. I use mine for ice-water, and where a Yeti will still have nearly all the ice after 8 hours (and a Zojirushi, unmelted after a couple of days!), the Coleman is mostly melted. That said, this is now my favorite container because of the spill-proof and easy-drink top -- the killer feature. I've knocked over far too many water bottles and made too many messes to deal with that anymore. I'm very satisfied with this bottle; I'm reserving the last star only because the insulation could be -- and is, in other brands -- a bit better.

This bottle has replaced the 20 oz screw-top and chug-top bottles I used to keep by my bed. It's about to replace the one I tend to take when driving my car. I have several stainless steel insulated bottles of various sizes and with various lids. I try to avoid using ones with silicone spouts or straws because they're a pain to clean properly. This one is easy to clean despite the more technical lid. (The bottom has to be washed by hand, but the lid can go in the dishwasher. I prefer to handwash both, and it's not hard. Instructions are included with bottle to explain how to thoroughly clean it.) I tend to get thirsty at night, and I have to take medications at bedtime and first thing in the morning. So, I usually keep a smaller bottle right beside my bed for this reason. Problems with other bottles: I've knocked over cups one too many times, or had dust from my bedside lamp fall into them. So, those were a no-go. I really don't want to struggle with the weight of a 32 or 40 oz bottle just to take a sip of water in the middle of the night. Plus, the large clunking of the bottle as I set it on my bedside table tends to wake up my significant other. Also, large bottles just take up too much space for such a simple task. I thought I found my best options with some 20 oz bottles - one with a screw off lid and the other with one of the more narrow screw open chug-top lids. But there have been way too many times I didn't sit up far enough when the bottles were full, and I spilled a bunch of water all over myself. It's not fun to be startled awake by freezing cold water. Then I saw this bottle online and decided to give it a try. I LOVE IT. (It's just as great for avoiding accidental spills while driving or walking.) I got the 24 oz version, which is the perfect size for keeping by my bed. The bottle is surprisingly lightweight. It also fits in my car cup holder without rattling around or standing up too tall. I haven't had any leakage issues... even while this bottle was rolling around my car floor, laying sideways in my purse, or laying beside me in bed all night. Basically, this is a bottle you can sip from without the need for a straw attachment. By no means are you limited to little "sips" at a time. Water will flow from the mouth opening as it would from a small water bottle. You just don't have the risk of accidentally dumping water onto your face or lap. The mouth piece opening is smaller than that of a disposable water bottle, but it doesn't require any suction to pour out. The water flow is decent for normal drinking (it doesn't stop up, either)... but it's not really adequate for desperate chugging after a long run or when you're otherwise feeling severely dehydrated. (At that point, just unscrew the top and have at it. The rim of the bottle is smooth enough to drink from like a cup.) In order to drink from this thing, you just do the following: 1.) Push the small metal locking button that's located just below the handle when the handle is laid flat. (You can skip this step if you leave the bottle unlocked, which I usually do when it's just sitting on a table or resting in my cup holder. If you leave it in the locked position, step 3 won't work... which is how this thing is extra leak-proof AND spill-proof.) 2.) Flip open the dust cover with your thumb or finger. It latches shut tight and seals all around the mouth piece, but it opens easily one-handed with a little pressure from your thumb. The dust cover doesn't prevent leakage (though, it might slow it down some if something were to malfunction in the lide). It basically just keeps your mouth-piece clean. 3.) Put the bottle to your mouth like you're about to drink. (No water should come out yet because the inside of the mouth opening is automatically sealed shut.) Push and hold the large button on the back of the lid to open the seal and release water. Now you can drink. And when your done, just release the button to stop the flow of water. (You can then close the dust cover and/or push the locking button if you want. But once you've released the large button on the back of the lid, the bottle opening is technically closed. No water comes out. The tiny locking button below the handle just prevents the larger button from being pushed in and releasing water.) I particularly like this bottle for use in my bed because if I only push the water release button with minimal pressure, I can kind of limit the flow. It's a little tricky to figure out at first because the button is not very sensitive. You really need a certain amount of force to open the seal (which isn't much force at all). I also like that I can release the button if I feel like I'm about to accidentally spill water all over myself. I do that way too often. The worst that will happen is a couple drops might sprinkle on me. I just bought a second bottle to mostly use in my car. Mainly, because it's not only "leak-proof," but "spill-proof," too. No more questionable coffee stains on my lap. I want to purchase the 40 oz version, but I've seen a lot of complaints about the handle breaking after a short period. Apparently, Coleman doesn't make replacement lids for these bottles. I don't carry the smaller bottle by the handle often since it's narrow enough that my average sized, adult female hands can grip it just fine. But I think a handle would be useful on a 40 oz. I'm going to checkout Coleman's "limited lifetime guarantee" on their website. If their offer seems good, I'll probably get the larger bottle, too. I seem to accidentally spill water on myself most often with 40 oz bottles. *I've included a video that hopefully helps others to understand how the leak/spill proof, locking lid works.

I don't usually spend much time writing reviews but I felt like this tumbler lived up to the occasion. First let me say there are very few instances I don't have a steel tumbler on me, the top one usually being that I have set it down and forgotten to pick it up or put it in the car when I leave but most days I have one full at my side at all times. I've been a Contigo user for years, after awhile something happens to the tumblers though and they just can't keep things cold anymore so it becomes time to get a few more, this time I was unable to find my preferred sport lid anywhere and not much else on the line was making me feel very good about substituting, I found the Coleman, the lid seemed very close with the only difference being an actual upgrade latch underneath making cleaning it much easier aside from that it's almost identical. The bottle is actually in between the small size and the large size of the Contigo tumblers at 18 oz. I like my 22 oz Contigo but I can live with 18 oz. The design to the Tumblr however is actually a pretty major improvement. It has this lip that goes inward a little bit and then raises back up and out where you screw on the lid. Actually separating the lid from the main part of the bottle, which seems to me like it would help keep your items at the proper temperature. Hot or cold longer. The other nice upgrade from my old mug is a rubber bottom which allows you to set it down without making super loud noise. If you're in school auditorium or a meeting. It also probably stabilizes it a little bit better than Contigo which after a few dents and drops sometimes becomes a little wobbly. My hand may have been slightly forced here to breach my comfort zone but I'm super glad it was. I'm extremely pleased with the 18oz Coleman Tumbler and I'd say I'm a convert. I've been really happy with the chill time. I poured a drink in it that was room temp over ice about 8 hours ago and it still has ice cubes inside right now. I could keep cold drinks poured over ice cold for extended time with my old bottle but usually in this scenario the ice would have melted hours ago. If you are considering swapping or buying Coleman, just do it. It has surprisingly surpassed all my expectations in less than 48 hours of coming into my life. Seems pretty intense, but it's true😎

Tengo un año utilizando este termo y lo recomiendo muchísimo. No he tenido ningún accidente en mi mochila por derrame de líquido y lo acomodo acostado y sin incidentes. También compré uno más grande para el agua y cumple perfectamente su función. Me gustaría que hubiera de color morado ya que ese es mi favorito, estaré en la espera de que salga uno.
