Each page teaches you ways to support your child through major milestones; nurture their development; and ensure that they succeed behaviorally, socially, and cognitively. Youโll also find valuable information on: -Sharing the news with loved ones -Transitioning into primary school -Developing your child's social skills -Discussing future opportunities, including employment and housing options With The Parentโs Guide to Down Syndrome , you will have the tools you need to raise a happy, healthy, and thriving child. Review: Itโs ok. - This book was just ok. It doesnโt go into great detail and provides pretty basic info. I have read other books about Down Syndrome that are better. Review: Only book to read while waiting for your baby. - When we received our prenatal diagnosis a Developmental Pediatrician friend of ours recommended not reading anything but this book. How greatdul we were for that advice. This was a positive and uplifting book with tons of knowledge sharing. The suggestions and websites suggested made it the perfect read and I highly recommend it. As a matter of fact when we were in the NICU, another baby with DS was born. This is the book we recommended they start reading.

You found your manual to navigating this new cool life!
Looking for a one-stop shop to help you navigate life as a new parent to a munchkin with Down syndrome? Look no further. This super well written guide will walk you through everything from the diagnosis (what the heck is Ds and what does this all mean?) to your newborn and what those first days, weeks and months look like as you start this incredible journey in this exclusive community of other parents just like you. It moves on to the toddler years, adolescence, young adulthood and more. Without pushing any agenda, this guide shares first-person accounts and experiences by parents on your same journey, oftentimes sharing differing choices on the same topic (therapies, schooling, etc) yet never suggesting how you should best parent your own child. Kudos to Jen and Mardra for capturing the essence of what it's like to truly live in this awesome world, a journey with your child as the tour guide.
