Being able to light a fire other than using something simple like a lighter has always intrigued me, guess it's the camper in me, which is a long-running hobby since I was a kid. I've watched loads of videos on YouTube how to use this so when this arrived, I arranged a camp with some friends and gave it a go. The black coating on the rod has to be scraped off before the sparks fly but once worn away, you can slide the small piece of metal down the rod and get a nice amount of sparks. The complimentary piece of fatwood has been used and that works brilliantly.

Bought for my ‘all things outdoors’ loving 12 year old. Excellent quality, simple to use, gives a great spark and lights my son’s camp stove first time, every time. Love the rustic look and feel to this. Wooden handle is branded nicely and the carry pouch keeps it all safe and protected. Best item ever!! I want one myself. (Grandma wasn’t so impressed when said child gave repeated “spark” demonstrations all round her house on boxing day!! 🤣🤣🥳)

I kept seeing these firestarters used and as someone who likes camping I had to buy one. Ok there are many types but I liked the look of this one and must say it has everything , the infused wood to use as a base , and a good sized flint rod and a steel which creates loads of sparks , and you can use the lace/rope that the 3 pieces are connected to , and is coated as an accelerant too although I didn't need it. I actually tried it on my firepit and got it lit after two strikes so it definitely works. It is what it is , it does what it's meant to do and I'm happy that I chose this particular brand
