The ones that are out in the weather have a problem with rain pouring in. It would be nice if the openings had some type of awning or something to prevent this. For a long time, after being rained on, my cats would not go back in the ones that were out in the weather. PREVIOUS REVIEW: I've couldn't wait to leave this review and cannot say enough about this cat house! I was so impressed with the quality of the material and the classy look it has. It took about 15 minutes to put this sturdy house together. Thanks to the "Ferguson" customer review, I was able to pay attention to which size bolts to use (long or short) and avoid problems with assembling. My feral cat hasn't tried it out yet as it has not been that cold here. I did put the flaps over the openings; but after reading the reviews. I may have to remove at least one so the cat will not be afraid to go into the house. The video was very helpful. I did have a problem with 2 gray pieces and didn't know where they went, since I could find nothing in the instructions. I finally figured out that these are the tightening tools and not part of the house itself. I intend to buy another house, after seeing the quality of the house and the ease of putting it together. I know I don't have to worry about it arriving in good condition, as the first house was packed extremely well. At first, I thought the house was a little pricey; but after seeing the quality and how easy it was to put together, I feel the price was well worth it. **Q: What are the dimensions of this house?**
A: Those listed dimensions are exterior.  The interior measures 16.5" x 17"  Something I wish I had known or noticed before buying a 12.5" x 18" heating mat.  If the mat wasn't rigid it might have worked but......

**Q: has anyone tried to install a store bought cat door in this house? One of the ones with a magnet flap or a ridgid plastic swinging door?**
A: We did NOT attach the two plastic door flaps to the outdoor cat house.  The feral cat (we named socks) who adopted us probably appreciates the feeling of a quick escape if needed. Socks is a pretty large cat and fits comfortable in the cat house.

**Q: Will the lid stay down and heavy wind without having to be anchored by rocks on top?**
A: Hi.  yes, when you put it all together, there are plastic screws that hold it all together.  Its fairly heavy and solid, it would take a very strong wind to move it.

**Q: Additional pet door flaps**
A: There is 2 doors on this both with one flap each. I actually don’t use either. My cats are scared of the flaps but they live the box

This is a VERY NICE little house! It's plenty LARGE, and STURDY feel. It'a a GREAT DEAL! Feels like quality material that is water resistant. The inner dimensions are about 17 x 17. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great cat house with options

I just got through assembling my XL Outdoor Cat House and my first impressions are extremely positive. It went together easily--I'm almost 84 and very tiny, so if I can do it, anyone can! The house is sturdy and cute (that's important!) and the pre-drilled holes and included hardware fit together well. The only modification, if you can call it that, I'm making is to leave the roof unscrewed for the time being. I like to put a food bowl inside the outdoor house so the food stays dry when it rains. Because we have lots of ants in Dallas, I also put the food bowl inside of a bigger bowl containing some soapy water. The doorway isn't large enough to accommodate the bowls, but leaving the roof unsecured gives easy access to the inside. It would also be a plus for cleaning. All of that said, the roof fits very nicely and is of sufficient weight that it isn't going to be blown off. So for now, the roof is removable. That may change in time, but for now it looks like a great solution. Now to see if the cats will use it . . .
