I bought these for my Son 6 months ago and figured per the reviews they wouldn't last long. My Son is a rough and tumble kinda kid and usually destroys shoes very quickly. They are still going strong and look pretty good. No rips or tears and the soles are in great shape. When my 5 year old announced that he wanted light-up shoes as his new kindergarten shoes I internally rolled my eyes. However, trying to be a good mom and figuring he would only be a kid once, I decided I needed to loosen up a bit. After combing through many styles online and narrowing down his choices to 5, I was delighted when he chose these. These look more like a streamlined running shoe vs the clunkier built up style of the others. A month and a half after our initial purchase we bought another pair for my 3 year old, who had to have light-up shoes like his big brother. Now over two month's later the 5 year old's shoes are starting to look a little more ragged, but that's realistically expected. What 5 year old is easy on shoes? They are not drastically falling apart, but starting to look frayed at abrasion points such as on the front of the toe box. The lights still flash brightly and continue to entertain the two in the bathroom with the lights out. They seem comfortable and are the kids' first choice in the morning when putting their shoes on. That may not seem like much, but we have had many VERY frustrating mornings with our 3 year old and his seemingly ultra sensitivity to his comfort level in clothes, socks, and shoes. No comfort problems yet with these.
