Apex Tool Group 0190AC General Purpose Center Cut Bolt Cutter, 24-Inch

I bought these bolt cutters for general purpose locksmithing. Cutting padlocks or chains if necessary. I decided to test them when they arrived. I had some 3/8" galvanized chain I use for chaining my motorcycle when I need to. 3/8" is the maximum that these bolt cutters can cut. it cut through the link, but not easily. But I didn't expect them to anyway. There was no damage to the jaws. They should work easily for the job I intend them for. If they can cut 3/8" chain, they can cut anything I will need them for. Good quality bolt cutters for general purpose use.

I decided to be smart and I bought a pair of cheap Chinese bolt cutters. I cut a bunch of stuff, and I began to notice that I was having some trouble cutting. I checked the blades, and the lousy steel was all knicked and dinged up. It was so bad it looked like serrated scissors. There we go, $28 right down the drain.No more, I said. I want something that is going to work for a long, long time. So I hopped on Amazon and found these. American quality, expensive but good, hard steel. They cut like a dream.Don't be stupid like I was. If you buy cheap foreign junk, it's only going to break and you're going to have to go out and buy an American made tool that actually works. Spend the extra money up front and get something that's going to last for a long time.

This is a very sturdy tool. I'd read the reviews and decided to purchase. The product was shipped quickly, but would using a box be asking too much? It arrived wrapped in brown paper wrapping which obviously did little to protect the tool. Several tears and punctures were apparent upon receipt. The handles were gouged as was the tip of the jaws of the tool. It's still functional and as it's a tool, I don't get too hung up over appearance. Having said that, I would expect the shipper to at least use a box. Is that asking too much? I don't think so. I'll certainly look to another vendor for future purchases. To ship this way gives the impression of a cheap, fly-by-night outfit.As for the tool itself, I had a couple of locks and some chain around. This bolt cutter handled everything I threw at it with ease. I suspect it will handle just about anything I'll routinely come across. Again, a fine product but the shipping was poor and embarrassing. Get the cutter but get it somewhere else.

These are great quality. That is obvious. They are also surprisingly light. They open very far to accommodate larger diameter cuts. But, they are incredibly stiff. I'm going to have to get some oil in them or see what else I can do to loosen them up. Otherwise, I'm pleased.

Bolt cutter works great on closetmaid shelves. Not to heavy for 24 inch cutters I wanted made in the USA tools so this was a good find for me. I would recommend this product to anyone.

Cut hardened steal locks like butter. Very happy with these.
