Not sure
I hooked this unit up to my Polaris Ranger, which had a kind of low battery from sitting to long. It turned over and started but sounded weak. I hooked up the unit, the next day I went to start it, completely dead, nothing. I put my multimeter on the alligator clips with the solar panel in the sun, checked voltage in DC mode, it read 18.3 volts. That is a lot. Tested on AC mode, 3.4 volts. I am guessing my battery terminals are carroded or the battery just happened to give out. I put the battery on a real charger, did not show any problems as far as sulfated or cell problems. I am puzzled. EDIT- I placed the solar charger onto the same battery, left the battery uninstalled outdoors with the solar charger hooked up, after charging the battery on a regular charger to full charge. I tested the voltage over several days, morning and evening. The volt meter showed 13.1 during the day, 12.9 at dark. This trickle charger works fine. I am going to order 2 more, one for my RV and another for a generator with a battery in a remote location. The price has gone up on me as the sale is over, my bad. Good unit!

Works well for battery on WaveRunner
It appears to be keeping the battery fully charged during those periods of time that the WaveRunner is not being used, which can be weeks at a time. I use clips and bungee cords to secure it to the cover we use for the WaveRunner. So far it is survived the weather.

Quality product with good user manual
Use it to maintain my car battery. It comes with clear user instruction and really working well. I really hope that it can have the option for odb II cable. So need to source for a good obd cable separately from other seller. One day of charging I can already see the voltage coming back from 12.4v to 12.6v. Very happy with the result.

a solid performer
This solar trickle charger is a solid choice. It comes with everything you need: the solar panel with side-flaps and 4 sucdtion-cups pre-attached, held together with an elastic strap, which also keeps the cables organized. The cable is long enough to go from the windscreen through to the battery, with a bit or cable to spare, if you want to mount the panel on the other side. It comes with both aligator clips and a cigarette lighter adapter, but note that you can't usually charge your car by plugging into the cig lighter socket, because when you car is turned off and locked, the cig lighter socket is disabled. So you need to run the wire through the doorjamb, and under the bonnet. It's ok, because the wire is thin enough to easily go through the doorjamb without letting any water in. I measured an 18V open-circuit voltage, and on a tree-covered street, I measured it charging at 12mA. Note that a typical trickle-charge rate is <0.001C, so a 50Ah car battery should be trickled at up to 50mA. This panel could output about 250mA in full sun, which is plenty, but it's not clear whether this device is 'smart' enough to limit trickle charge rate to avoid over-charging and off-gassing the battery. Conversely, it might not be enough to keep the battery topped-off if parked where it's too shady. I think 12mA during the daytime is enough though.
