This product smells strange, almost like mildew. I'm wondering if that's normal or if I got a bad batch or something?

Yes the smell of the product is bad but its not because there is something wrong with it. It is "unscented" so there are no chemical scents added to make it smell pretty.

Can I put this on after lotion and leave it on?

Thank you for the questions, you wash your face or area applying. Dry area and apply small amounts leaves for indicated time on instructions ( everyone is different so allow a test on a small area before learning for long period) .
