The taste depends upon what you put in it (duh). If you put in coconut oil with some salt, it taste better than if you cook just the popcorn alone. (Palm oil gives it a yellow color.) Is it hot when you pull it out of the microwave? Sure, but isn't everything. Taking the lid off will cool it very quickly, and I'd rather deal with a simple lid than wrestling with a hot bag that to open. Not all of the kernels pop, but my experience is that has less to do with the popper than with the popcorn. Old popcorn dries out and can no longer pop. Because of some of the reviews I read before ordering, I was concerned about the popcorn burning. That did not happen. I have a relatively new microwave. The instructions said to cook for two minutes, but it did not seem long enough because the popcorn was still actively popping. So 2 minutes and 30 seconds works best for my situation.
