Nice for the price!
I was looking for an at-home trainer for my 4” Ruger Security Six. This is a bit shorter in the barrel, but fits the holster. Works well for working out how to get it clear and on point. If you screw up and shoot yourself, it will be a lesson but not a life lesson. The SNR357 has very similar dimensions and grip size to several real steel magnum pistols. It is about half a pound lighter than the real steel magnum, but then it’s not a firearm. The pellet cartridges are interchangeable with the Crosman Remington single action revolver. The BB cartridges are front loading like the Dan Wesson pistols. Again the Crosman Remington BB cartridges are compatible and rear loading. Not a big deal with the 7.5 inch barrel on the Remington, but when you have a 2.5 inch smooth bore barrel, the extra two inches in the cartridges can help just a little bit. The grips are plastic and the rear part that slides open runs in two tracks with small tabs top and bottom. I recommend taking a little extra time and feeling out how it works. If you man-handle it you will break it. It’s a little fragile and fiddly but once you get it it’s easy and they feel nice. Start by pulling back gently right behind the cylinder latch about half an inch (12.5 mm). Then gently pull the bottom out and the whole thing will slide backwards. It will then pivot upward out of the way when you insert the co2 bulb and are turning the piercing key. Note where the bottom track is and line the bottom tabs up with the track. When both top and bottom are lined up with the tracks, gently squeeze the back part of the grip forward and closed. I painted the front sight red and put white dots on either side of the rear notch. This is easy to pick up with my old eyes in lower light settings. Accuracy is about what you might expect with a 2.5” smooth bore barrel. Pellets are slightly more accurate. They fit the 4.5 mm tube closely. Steel BBs are more like 4.4 mm and rattle around a bit. All in all, I am happy with the purchase, and recommend it for point and shoot training. I find the technique takes quite a bit of practice to train your brain to judge the angle of your wrist. Your grip must be absolutely consistent. Using an airgun is about a tenth of the cost of shooting powder and BBs are about ten dollars a million. Once I got it worked out, about 10,000 rounds for good consistency and muscle control, I practiced at the range with my real steel piece to prove it to myself. I wasn’t surprised by the added recoil and noise, by the time that happens you are done shooting. You have done all the good or harm you are able to do. The air gun is, in my opinion and experience valuable trigger time whenever I get 30 minutes to go to the garage and shoot 100 rounds. Three or four times a week adds up. Just like learning a musical instrument.

Realistic Feel
Very realistic feel. Good practice for getting comfortable with the real thing.

Large and Heavy
This is a heavy all metal air gun. Similar in style to the snubnose 38, but i have not seen a real one. I am assuming they might be a little smaller. It seems to be more accurate with pellets than BBs. At 35 feet I was hitting within an 8 inch diameter target. It seemed to shoot a little high and to the left, with only one bullseye, but that may very well have been my aim. I found the casings fit the Legends Cowboy Lever Action air rifle, and since I had purchased the Colt revolver casings they are interchangeable. However, my only complaint is with the slide safety/cylinder release. When I took the gun out of the plastic confinement, I went to open the cylinder and found I could not move the slide from safety no matter how hard I pushed on the button. Almost giving up, I took a rubber mallet to it and forced it lose. Unfortunately, each time I put it on safety I have to repeat the process of getting it free. Updating this to say that I did contact Crosman and the support was helpful, but they are aware of the problem, which it seems manufacturing has created a burr on the slide, which will make it difficult to use the safety. The problem will be fixed on future productions. Good Quality control would have caught the problem before it was sold to consumers. Crosman's recommendation is to remove the screw holding the safety button and then work the slider repeatedly to remove the burr. They suggested a piece of wood to hit the slider so as not to scratch the finish or in my case a rubber mallet. But otherwise I am happy with the gun and for the price would recommend it. I do want to point out that I fired 42 shots and still had plenty of air left, so you might be able to get from 80 - 100 shots from a single CO2 cylinder.

Kills rats.
I searched tirelessly for a maneuverable pellet handgun that is capable of fast follow up shots in tight spaces to be able to hunt rats that turn up around our chicken coops every winter. This revolver is exactly what I was looking for. I received it today, and this evening went out and took my first rat without waking the neighbors or worrying about the path of the projectile causing collateral damage. Just enough power to take small game between 5 and 20 feet and I would never need it for a distance greater than that anyway. The gun itself is well thought out and made of sensible materials. I hate to see that others recieved broken or malfunctioning units, mine has been excellent. The ability to switch between pellet and bb is a huge added bonus. It is well worth the money as long as you make sure you get a good unit. Especially if, like me, you are waging war on rodent-kind. Take care of yourselves out there.

Review Crossman SNR357 2'1/2 in. revolver
2nd review today. This is a replacement to a dan wesson 357 I purhasd in Sept. of this year . For every thing it was, this wasn't. The fit and function of the parts and systems was great. The bonus was it is cheaper, and included both BB and pellet capability. If you are looking for food bb / pellet revolver, this will fill the bill.

The cylinder lockup is not great
It's heavy, it's robust, it seems relatively durable, the sights are adjustable, and it's nice that it has pellet and BB options. The biggest problem with this airgun is: fundamentally it is inaccurate. With any wheel gun the cylinder lockup needs to be FIRM in order to assure consistent and accurate shooting. I threw the bore laser I have for my real .357 snubnose revolver into the Crossman and even with the trigger pulled (the cylinder lockup is better when the trigger is fully pressed) the cylinder lockup is bad enough at under 10 yards I'm seeing a 3-5 inch shift left or right of the center of the target when I wiggle the cylinder. This is consistent with the upper end of inaccuracies I get when I use a clamp to hold it in place aim it at one point on the target and fire all cylinders without moving it. With a stronger cylinder lockup it would be more accurate. As it stands now it could be better. With regular operation it isn't THAT bad. You'll usually hit what you're aiming for assuming you sighted it in correctly (though the sight itself has a bit too much play to be trusted all the time and should be checked regularly). I think that the cylinder movement is exaggerated with my laser in there. I think that the system relies heavily on the friction between the rubber tip of the BB holder bullet and the rubber grommet that helps seal the gas to keep it from moving too much. I think that helps a bit, but I still think that depending on that was a bad idea insofar as construction goes. Because of this issue it's never gonna be as accurate as other airguns that don't have a rotating cylinder.

very good
It was very good overall. The accuracy was not the best, and sometimes the pellets would get stuck and not fire properly, but it was still fun to use.
