I'm considering whether to buy led or true neon. any suggestions?

Hi, Comparing with traditional glass neon, LED neon sign is a budget friendly alternative, it’s much cheaper in price and low energy required. It’s easy to install and can be easily transported or carried around without much risk. But glass neon sign will be more brighter in some colors (like Red & Blue), and it can be installed outdoor for being exposed to wet or damp conditions. So if you want your sign in a more brightly lit environment or for outdoor use, glass neon may be the better choice. J&R Direct

What can I use to hang up without drilling?

Hi, If you do not want to make holes in your walls, you can use 3M stripes to mount your sign on a wall. J&R Direct

Can I buy a remote and control and turn on and off with it? If so, witch kind?

I don't know if you can. It comes with a click on and off USB connection. I connected mine to the TV and it turns on and off with my TV.
