What’s recommended in the manual isn’t enough and despite wiping it up it smells!** A: Just bought mine and have only used twice. I did clean after each use per manual instructions and have yet to experience odor. You could run vinegar and water through the machine on a clean area of floor. I would use the formula suggested, replacing cleaner with vinegar mixed with recommended amount of water. Good luck! **Q: Does anyone know why the dirty water tank leak water when being removed? It happens to us at first time use, leaving dirty water all on the floor!** A: I do two things - one just before use and one just after use. Before, I double check the float stack to make sure its float is not stuck (like, turn the stack back and forth) and then make sure it is seated AND ALIGNED in the dirty water tank (look for arrow and the notch) and the ring is snug. AFTER, I dump the dirty water then remove the float stack and rinse it well and tilt it to make sure nothing is making the float stick and then reassemble after everything is pretty much dry. I learned the hard way with an older, bigger Bissell that the dirty water parts can get stuck with hair, lint, etc. On the new one, I learned on the first day that, after dumping and rinsing the stack, make sure that bottom ring is snug. **Q: will it suck water from wet carpet?** A: Carpet cleaning machines are designed to suck water out of wet carpet. That's how they work--they put water with cleaning fluid into the rug and then they suck it back out. **Q: what is the width of the cleaning path on this model?** A: Mfr website says 7.5”. I think it’s more than that-about 10”. It’s not real wide. All I know is it works great. Not intended to clean an entire house but it will.
