Loved it
Ok so first of all I want to say I read the reviews first and did my own experiment. I ate it out the bag, placed it in a paper bag, and wrapped it in paper towels too. I absolutely loved it straight out its package. I am severely anemic and I finally satisfied this clay craving. I understood what some people said about it being creamy but also I got a nice grainy texture with it. It didn’t have a scent to it so that was nice. The taste was very much what I think dirt would taste like and I only had the perfume taste some people wrote about when I left it in the paper bag. The one in the paper towel was perfect too. Definitely try which way you’d like it best but for me definitely out the bag. I hope my next purchase is just as tasty since some say different batches vary. Good luck to you all, hope everyone gets their craving satisfied like I did. P.S. brush your teeth after. As you can see with my hand and little of the nail it stains but comes off easily

Delicious and Earthy. Tastes like fresh rain
Ok let me start by saying I have pica and iron deficiency so I crave edible clay, and as many of you we all want a specific rain type dirt taste. Right? Well when it comes it comes in a foil/plastic package so the taste isn’t great. BUT good edible clay should only be stored in paper bags for best taste quality so get a regular paper bag (even the grocery store kind of bag but make sure it’s paper) let it sit an hour or so out in the open. Then keep it stored in said paper bag within an hour the earthy taste will come. The chemical taste isn’t an actual chemical taste at first it’s from the shipment and packaging just switch to the paper bag and you will get the taste you crave. I’ve been eating this for many many years, I can’t speak for the quality of using it as a mask because I don’t use it for that purpose plus it’s very red so you probably wouldn’t want to do that. Also just nibble on your piece as you go and the coloring won’t be a problem. It has a nice grit but not too much, creamy taste, like fresh rain, if you eat too big of a bite you can get the gumminess but if your wanting this taste we all crave this is it, just take small bites.

NOT delicious.
This clay is not delicious. Which, let's be fair - it's dirt. I was expecting to enjoy it a bit more than I did, because I had a huge pregnancy craving for this, but I ate only a small piece (maybe 3/4 inch), and I had to crush it and mix in some salt before I could choke it down. It gave me a sore throat, and at one point it felt like there was something slimy in it (like maybe there had been a tiny worm in there that got dried out, but then my saliva rehydrated it).I don't know if this is basically normal/expected for edible clay, having never bought it before, so I don't want to be unfair. This may just be how this type of product is, and it turns out I don't much like the product! Definitely had higher hopes/expectations.

AIR IT OUT
At first taste, I was not a huge fan because I really am looking for a crunch & it was an initial crunch then immediately paste. So I moved them out of the packaging & into an open bowl into sunlight & waited, after time it dried out some & has better crunch but still not a huge fan of the immediate pasty-ness. It does stain VERY badly, the taste is a great earthy flavor & it is kind of a pain to get out of your mouth if you dont swallow. So pros & cons.

Buy it, air it out, eat it
This satisfied my cravings during my pica deficiency. I do recommend opening it and air it out before eating.

Chemicals! Strong smell of Clorox!
If I could give zero stars I would! DISGUSTING! It tastes like Clorox I tried multiple pieces! Strong smell and taste of bleach / Clorox! One piece was FULL of hair. I’m so disappointed.
