Perfect! All the features you want and the auto-dim is surprisingly good.
Bottom-line up front: I've owned several Petzl and Black Daimond headlamps over the years, and this is by far my favorite of them all. Fairly light (3.9 oz on my scale), comfortable (soft strap with super-easy adjusting), micro-USB RECHARGEABLE! (massively important for the leave-no-trace backpacker type looking to minimize evironmental impact). It also lasts a VERY long time thanks to an adaptive mode that uses a light sensor to auto-dim the output to just what you need. The auto-dimming really works well. They have it dialed in nicely so that I don't have to think about it, I just get the light I want and nothing else. I was not expecting to be so happy with the feature. I thought I'd always get too little or too much light - I was wrong. It's calibrated to provide a very comfortable amount of light. If I'm on the trail in full dark, I get a nice bright wide beam that gives me excellent visibility for about 10 yards and good visibility for another 20-30 yards. Then when I climb into my tent it quickly dims down (fraction of a second) because the tent walls reflect back light so I only need a few lumens coming from the lamp (it's enough to read comfortably). This auto-adjust should be standard on all headlamps the weight savings on batteries has got to offset whatever tiny weight goes into the sensor/processor -- I'm never wasting battery on lumens I don't need. The lamp also has the other standard features -- a red light mode and adjustable angle with a secure enough hinge to keep it where you want it. If you are willing to carry an extra ounce, you can buy a spare battery for about 30 bucks. Swapping them out is pretty easy - just pop off the back pane - but frankly, unless you are going on a very long hike without a battery pack, or planning on doing a lot of night hiking, one battery is enough. I used this extensively on my recent four day solo hike (2 nights I hiked right up until dark and had to use the lamp for everything). At the end of the trip I was still solidly green on the battery indicator. If I go on a hike long enough to need to recharge this, I'll come back and update it to try to give you an idea of how much real-world use you can expect. But even on a through hike, you'll be passing towns or other power sources often enough that you probably won't need to charge this from your battery much.

Excellent performance in some of the harshest conditions over 5 years
This is my second petzel headlamp of this same type. I have the previous version that I purchased 5 years ago. I just bought this one because I thought I lost it but I found it! Now I have two. I use this for some pretty tough uses including taking it on over 18000 miles of opean ocean sailing where I have been underwater with it (no on purpose) as giant waves come crashing over the deck. I know it is not water proof, but it has held up without any damage even to the metal on the little micro sd connector for the recharging port. I use it for stupid running races when we run over mountains in the middle of the night, and it gives off excellent light for all the rocks. I use it when I go biking at night as my 3rd source of light. And last, it is my primary light for when I fly as a pilot , using the red light to not destroy my night vision. The strap has not stretched over the years even though sometimes I have it on around a thick winter hat. These guys did this product right. I have had no reduction in recharging after so many years either

Nice, Bright, Comfortable Headlamp
I use this light for running. It is bright and comfortable. The short- and long-range beams provide an excellent field of view at all power levels. The self-adjusting brightness feature works but I prefer to use the manual setting for maximum power and full beam spread for more predictable lighting. The light itself is a little larger than most single-lens lights, but it's the same weight as most headlamps on the market and the strap is better, so it's not an issue. Speaking of the strap, it's a nice strap—it's comfortable and easy to adjust—and you can actually purchase replacement straps, which is isn't always the case for some other headlamp manufacturers. Lastly, the lamp uses a rechargeable battery, which is also replaceable, so you don't have to worry about the regular AAA batteries most lamps use suddenly going belly up in the middle of a run.

Bright, Stays Put & Pretty Comfy
Very bright. Bright enough for fast pace night running and perfect work working around dark spots in the attic and outdoor work in the dark.I wear it over a smart wool running hat and it is comfortable. Without the extra hat padding, it is less comfy. The strap is great. Would but again.

Great headlamp. Lightweight and bright
Great headlamp. Lightweight and bright. Battery lasts a long time. My only 'dislike' about it is that it is a 'wide angle' beam; I'm grown accustomed to, and prefer, a more targeted light beam. To this end, it appears 'dimmer' than other lights of similar lumens. This is a personal preference though, so it's not a Petzl issue, just something to be aware of when purchasing! It is plenty bright to run on wooded trails in the pitch black. Good product!

Awesome and Light Weight
I bought this for my first 50 mile trail race. The race started at 9:00PM, so I wore this head lamp for nearly 10 hours. I really didnt even notice I had it on my head. Very light, comfy and the reactive lighting was very helpful when I hit the dark sections of the trail or when I got to the aid stations. It automatically adjust the lighting.

Very Versatile Headlamp
Very strong illumination. And the battery has neve run low even on my long runs. Light options took a bit of time to master on the run but I'm very pleased with the product.
