My first boss in 1975 built a unit to do what this does. It was an absolute must for us tracing cable faults (open and short circuits).Ok. So I bought this AFTER I had already found the fault the slow hard way, but now looking forward to something failing again and having just the right tool. :)

Used it to check things on the car and works well

Would be simple to use if it had some usable instructions.The time saved with the tool has been eaten up by researching how to connect it up.Apart from that it works on the bench but I have doubts about its accuracy.

Got this to detect a line break on a robotic mower installation. Did not help at all, instead I wasted about 1.5hrs trying to get it to work.- not able to hear a tone on the wire once a couple of meters away from the transmitter, I even tried attaching headphones- the continuity check feature does not work, it said there is continuity (I.e. no break) whereas my accurate multimeter correct reports no continuity.

I gave this to my son who has used it on a number of occasions and he says it was the best gift ever. He has resolved a number of problems with his car since.

Wanted this to help me to locate a line break in my robot mower perimeter wire. Was not sensitive enough to detect the wire at all unless it was above ground, so no good for this purpose. Amazon refunded me and I switched it for a Noyafa NF 820, which did the job.

I needed to figure out where the pre-wired solar panel wires were routed on my RV. This tool did the trick (open circuit test) and I was able to trace the wire up the wall and across the roof to the back corner. It did not work through the tin siding (no signal) but worked great from inside.

Follow directions works as described ,found the short in taillamp harness. Would purchase again.
