It is a great price for a functional durable product
I have bought 3 of these and all 3 worked in modded Xbox I did notice that I had to upgrade the IDE Cable from 40 to 80 wire to get it to work after cloning but for the cloning process 40 works. It can be set to slave or master. I read that people couldn't get it to work for original Xbox? I have no idea what the issue is for them but for me 5 stars for both price and transfer rates.

Works well inside a Sony scph 20400 external pcmcia hdd
If you want to convert the external Sony enclosure for the pcmcia Japanese PS2 (10000/15000/18000) from side to sata, due to space constraints you would have to use a 2.5” laptop sata drive. This adapter uses a JMicron 20330, I was explicitly looking for it due to my application.I used this adapter inside the scph 20400 and it supported a 3tb 2.5” sata hdd no problem, so now I can enjoy my japanesePS2 scph18000.The adapter came with black foam applied to the sata side to insulate the exposed contacts from touching the metal parts of the hdd, I lifted it and applied hot glue for a much stronger adhesion and added electric tape on top to avoid the possibility of the foam getting pierced. With a 2.5” hdd it’s not much of a concern as the power stays by the side but with a 3.5” hdd (not my use case) I wanted the extra insulation.I can’t speak to longevity but for now it does what it is supposed to well.

Unreliable. Only worked sporadically.
Tried to use this with an SSD in a Mac Performa 637CD. Most of the time, the system did not detect the SSD at boot time. It would take multiple reboots and fiddling with the connectors to get it to boot. Once I got it working, if I subsequently cold-booted the system, it would not work anymore. Rinse and repeat. Finally gave up and bought an NFHK SATA-to-IDE adapter, which works perfectly in the system.

Works in Master/Slave setup
Needed 4 Sata to IDE adapters that would work in a Master/Slave setup. Tried adapters from 2 other manufactures with no success. This product solved my problem. The ones I recieved came with insulating foam tape on the side facing the drive which is a nice touch.

Xbox Salvation
Before you do anything. Apply electrical tape on the other end where the IDE power connector is. They didn’t bother to protect the solder points that can cause an electrical short. Hard drives are still made of metal and this bridge can short itself on the hard drive. If you plan on restoring your Original Xbox, the only method is through modification to replace the older hard drive. This is the bridge you need to clone your Xbox onto a SATA hard drive. Just be sure to keep the file transfer slow to avoid corrupting any files during an FTP transfer. She’s old and can’t run that fast. Some of these bridges were a hit or miss in the past where the data rate seem oddly slow; in the kilobytes per second… so once you see that, try again and if it continues, replace it with a new one.Oh, and use a twin IDE power cable for powering the secondary hard drive. Keeping everything on the same electrical circuit makes it easier to do the cloning process. I used an external power supply that I used for cloning my computer which made it more annoying and difficult to deal with. HahaGood luck!!

Repaired Sega Arcade Machine
Used this to replace the IDE hard drive in a SEGA Lindbergh Yellow. This unit works specifically because unlike some other converters you can set it to be master or slave, the Lindbergh needing the hard drive to be set to slave to function is what shines for this unit. I had some trouble with the machine wanting to use an SSD, however a spare SATA hard drive from a decommissioned PC did the trick. If I get an SSD working I will write a follow up review. I did end up adding some extra double sided tape to the back of the unit.
