Is it really necessary to wear the goggles? I'm thinking vitamin D is absorbed through eyes as much or more than skin.

UV rays are absorbed through skin & converted into Vitamin D3. The bare skin. Not eyes. I worked at a tanning salon for a couple years & I can tell you that UV light will severely damage your vision. It's cumulative but even small amounts lead to macular degeneration which leads to blindness, not to mention cataracts. These are just a couple of the damaging effects, not an extensive list. If you do not wear eyewear you will cause harm & will in No Way get more vitamin D.

What is the cost of the replacement bulbs?

Hi there. The Sperti Vitamin D Box has a total electricity draw of only 2/3 of 1 amp. The unit is built with 110-220 volt operation (no converter is required) and can also be used internationally running off 220v. If you require a 220v cord, we can ship this to you. I hope this helps. Thank you.

Can someone tell me if this generates heat? Just purchased and not sure if it's doing anything or I'm unknowingly burning myself. Thanks

No it does not generate heat. If you follow the instructions to acclimate by using it 3 minutes at 15" from your body, every other day you should not burn. You increase the time as instructed as the instruction guide states.
