Great algicide if you are battling phosphate or don't know but use a ton of chlorine and shock without any consistency
Works great as an algicide and has allowed me to get on top of phosphates issues that have plagued me for the last 2 years. I was constantly scooping out the nasty green stuff and the pool looked like a stagnant irrigation pond every time I would go to use it. When the algae would get kipper off from the chlorine, shock and algicide the bottom had 1/2" of white powder for my vacuum cleaner to pick up. This was every week and I don't drain or add non potable drinking water to the pool.Anyone that tells you phosphates are never the issue on pool chlorine use, algae growth and even PH balance has never had to fight the issue. I was using 10 to 20 lbs of chlorine a week along with shocking every few days and the chlorine levels were never consistent. My PH would constantly fall about .2 every day. I used 2 50 pound bags of soda ash in 5 months in 2016 to keep the PH at 7.0 and could never get it higher. I started using nix early in the 2016 season closing with it and have used it consistently since then.A month into the 2017 season it started turning around. My chlorine usage dropped to what I would consider normal for a 30,000 gallon pool, averaging 8 3 inch tabs every 7 days. PH has held at 7.2 with only 10 lbs of soda ash used in 2017 and 8 lbs this year for the 2018 season so far. For 2018 I am using about 5 to 6 3 inch tabs and pool has never looked this good. No algae, PH and chlorine stay consistent only shocked when opened and every 2 weeks compared to every few days when I started battling phosphates and algae growth.

Good product/High Price
I love this product BUT it cost way to much money. It works but the price has doubled since last year!

Amazing for algae
We had been battling algae since re-plastering our pool with pebble-tech last year. We wondered if we'd made a mistake not going with traditional plaster. We felt defeated and were not liking the pool very much. My husband was contemplating having the plaster done over again. We brushed, chlorinated, made sure our chemistry was just right and STILL had algae. My husband found a bottle of "NIX" in our pool chemical supply box and gave it a try. We did a big treatment and WOW what a surprise! The algae is GONE!! We keep waiting for it to come back but the pool is still pristine! Our pool supply store no longer carries it so we turned to reliable Amazon and found it there. We now add about 2 ounces of NIX to our pool each week to control the algae. We love our pool again!! Highly recommended!!!

All you need is Nix and Chlorine (maybe some floc at the start of the year)
I have well water that just breads algae blooms! I keep high chlorine levels and use NIX and that is it! Works fantastic together. The only other chemical I use all year is floc to open my pool. No amount of chlorine and NIX will open a green pool; but floc it, let it settle, vaccuum and repeat for two days... then it's just NIX and chlorine all season.
