Going Nuclear on a Flag Mount With Success
I'm reviewing the Steelsoft DIY Hose Clamp Kit. This stuff is great for making a large circular clamp. I used it to strengthen my flag mounts because the strong winds were pulling my mounts out of the tree. Despite lacking any cosmetic appeal to these clamps, I think they will keep my flag mounts attached securely to the tree. Much better than screws. Big flag and/or heavy flag pole and/or heavy winds equals major stress on a flag mount. Before adding these clamps, I had three mounts give way when only screws held the mounts into the tree. See pics for clampage. Are they easy to assemble? For me they were. I read the brief directions, used my bench vice, a Dremel cutoff wheel and a 5/16 hex socket on a ratchet and drill. Be sure to get the worm gear tongue into the 4th slot as stated in the directions. I'm 72 years old. My bench vice compensated for my lack of strength.

Most Impressive! Exceptional Product
Needed a large clamp to secure a 4" diameter corrugated drain to a pop-up in the yard. Found this product and was very impressed with the quality, durability, versatility and value. I have purchased many clamps over the decades and found this DIY kit to meet or exceed those. The clamp screw hex is 5/16" and I was able to use my 1/4" impact to snug up the clamp, then used a nut driver for final torque. My only suggestion would be to use a vise to bend the tab flat vs. pliers once inserted into the worm screw fastener (much better results imho).

Any size hose clamps
Do you sometimes need an odd-sized hose clamp, especially one that would be bigger than you would normally use? If so, this is the kit for you. I have used it to clamp hoses as big as 8" with great success (note, not a high pressure hose, one that big would take a special high strength clamp). I think these were designed for things like ductwork, where you may need very large clamps. Anyway, the clamps work well from about 1-1/2 inch hose on up, and if put together right, seem to be as strong as a standard automotive style clamp. The only reason this doesn't get 4 or 5 stars, is for 2 reasons: 1) it isn't that easy to get put together. You will need a good set of pliers, cutters strong enough to cut the stainless steel band, and a small flat bladed screwdriver. You will also need to do a trial run at assembly, to be sure that the band is put on the right way. The band is tightened by a screw with the threads of the screw engaging the slots in the band. If you look, the screw threads are at a small angle, as are the slots in the band. If put together the proper way, it works very smoothly, if put together with the screw backwards in relation to the band, tightening it is very 'gritty' and I doubt as strong. You will need to attach the screw part of the clamp to the band, which requires a good set of pliers as the band is strong and slick, and slips out of the jaws of chintzy pliers easily. You then need to be sure the little 'ear' on the clamp engages one of the notches in the band (a small straight screwdriver is good for prying it into place). It isn't overly difficult if you have the right tools, but to be done right does require a bit of precision, and a bit of time. The second problem I have run into, is poor quality control on the tightener mechanism. The kit comes with several, and for me, one works great, and the next one will slip easily. Long story short, it is made of two parts that are kind of 'clamped' together, with the screw held in between the two halves. If you put it together on the bench, and it seems loose, take your pliers, and squeeze the little ears where the halves clamp together so they fit more tightly. Once I figured out to do this, no more slipping of the band unless you try tightening it beyond what any sane person would try. I could tighten the clamps as tight as I possibly could with a screwdriver with zero issues, and I'm a 200# man with XL hands, and above average hand strength. Once you get the screw clamp part mounted on the band, just measure how long you need it, and cut to length (I suggest you add a little because an inch too long is far better than an inch too short). IF, and I say IF you are willing to take the extra time to make sure the band is oriented correctly, and also are willing to ensure the screw engages the band fully (and are willing to squeeze it tighter if you have to) this is an excellent universal hose clamp kit, especially if you need to clamp something large in diameter. Average rating because of the quality control issues on how well the tensioner mechanism is put together, but very good quality otherwise. The band is strong, and it is all Stainless, so it shouldn't rust.

Great Clamps; Fully Customizable
Iโm thoroughly pleased with the Stainless Steel Hose Clamp Assortment Kit, especially for my segmented bowl-making projects. The quality of these clamps is impressive, with sturdy, durable stainless steel construction that holds up well to frequent use. One of the standout features is how easy it is to create custom-sized clamps using the included components. The kit offers excellent versatility, allowing me to adjust the clamp size to fit different project dimensions. This flexibility has been a great for securing segmented bowl rings while gluing and clamping them togetherโno slipping or loosening during the process. The clamps tighten smoothly and hold securely without cutting into the wood, and theyโre resistant to rust, which is a big plus for longevity. The assortment of sizes that I can make with the kit is anything smaller than 12 feet in circumference or eight separate clamps that add up to 12 feet. Its a great value for anyone working on woodworking, automotive, or general home repair projects. Overall, I highly recommend this kit for its quality, ease of use, and versatility. It's a must-have addition to any craftsperson's or DIYerโs toolbox.

Good stuff!
I had an application that required large clamps - about 8" in diameter. This is a wonderful product. The metal band is quite strong and looks to be of good quality. You'll need more than a plier cutter to cut it though. Had to get a specialized cutter. The head is also of good quality. The design to attach the head to the coil doesn't seem optimal - but hasn't come off yet. The tightening mechanism works very smoothly. If you can get a factory made units to fit your application, I would recommend those. But for some odd-ball applications - this product works!

good value, mildly magnetic
Fairly easy to cut with tin snips. Straps seem to be solid metal, not folded and compressed in layers. Good flexibility but the screw clamps limit the minimum radius. A bit stiff to attach the screw clamp. Instructions included. I can't verify the grade of stainless steel, but it is mildly magnetic. Maybe a result after having the holes stamped into the straps.
