My old Mac showed classic, end-of-life battery symptoms; short discharge times; short recharge times.Yet, I agonized for weeks, wondering, do I try this myself or should I go to the Apple Store? Turned out to be several weeks of worry for a fifteen minute job ... seriously, the hardest part of this job is working (very carefully) the ten teeny, tiny, itty, bitty, wrist-watch size machine screws that hold the back panel on, out of their threaded holes. Surprisingly, Apple seemed to feel that they needed to apply THREADLOCKER (for Pete's sake, was that really necessary) on each screw! Thankfully, this battery kit included a tweaker's size Phillips screwdriver for these screws but, do take care ... you absolutely do not want to round out the Phillips head of any of these little, teeny, tiny, itty, bitty, wrist-watch size machine screws. Also, after removal, make the effort to organize them with regards to their original locations as there are three longer screws along one side of the machine. And, if you simply scatter them around on your workbench and then, sneeze ... good luck ever finding them all as they really, really are teeny, tiny and itty bitty and so on and so forth ... but the good news is, Amazon also sells a replacement set (with the threadlocking compound already applied).One final comment. The battery is held in place by sliding it under fixed retaining clips and then installing one three-bladed 'Phillips' plastic screw similar to one you probably have seen in a 'security bit' set and the proper three-bladed screwdriver for that plastic screw too is included in this kit.One more final comment. The single power plug has multiple very small pins and wires in a harness. I had no trouble either removing the old plug or installing the new battery's plug but take your time and don't force anything. If it doesn't plug in easy, something is not aligned properly.And I can't resist the opportunity for one last final comment. Follow the included instructions regarding initial charge and discharge cycles. I did not need to 'reset' the Mac's onboard battery condition monitor but if you do, that information is also include in the instructions.Considering the price of the battery (seemed like an exact physical match too) including tools and instructions, this product was a heck of a bargain. My old MacBook Pro is working like new !!!

UPDATE:after my initial review, the distributor contacted me to offer some advice on how to possibly fix the problem. After troubleshooting for some time and taking the advice of the distributor, the problems still persisted. I’ve change this from a one star to a four star review because of the follow up with Customer Service. Even though the battery didn’t work, they try to make it right by offering solutions of troubleshooting and finally by refunding my original purchase price for the defective item.END OF UPDATEThis battery was very easy to install… But all batteries for MacBooks are usually pretty easy to install.When I first install this battery, it seemed OK… But about a week later, the MacBook kept powering off and back on again. Now it’s at the point where the power is off on its own every 15 minutes or so. This is obviously because the MacBook and needs throttle down because of the inferior battery.I tried uninstalling and reinstalling to see if that would fix the problem. It did not. This is a complete waste of money. I bought Mr. Fixit batteries before and they were great.

Brought the old Mackbook back to life!

This battery is easy to install and works right away. I charged it as per the set up instructions. The main issue I have with it is that after 2 months of use it only charges to 93 percent. It lasts about 2 hours, which is about half the life of the original battery. Right now that isn't an issue, but when I start having to travel for work, I will need to get another one. I will have to bite the bullet and get a certified one from iFixit...should have done it first time around. I guess you get what you pay for!

My original battery finally bit the dust after almost 10 years. Installed this one no problem. It was a bit difficult to remove the old screws in my old battery so I had to apply a bit of force. They eventually came out with the supplied screw drivers. Follow the instructions provided for cycling the battery to ensure best performance.

I bought this battery to replace the original battery in my 2010 Macbook Pro.The installation was a breeze; only took about 15 minutes with the included tools. I calibrated it by charging the battery to 100%, then letting it discharge until it forced itself to sleep; I did this 5 times as instructed. It has been working like a champ ever since.I have only had the battery for two weeks, so cannot really speak to the longevity, but it has in any scenario prolonged the lifespan of my 12 year old laptop.
