A Topical and a Theme Articles Index. List of contributors and suggestions for further readings. The translator is David H. Stern. Dr. Stern taught Fuller Theological Seminary’s course on Judaism and is an officer of the Messianic Jewish Alliance of America now living in Jerusalem. Being a Jewish person I have had a hard time dealing with the antisemitism and ignorance of Judaism in the N.T. - with Dr. Stern’s research and commentary it’s readable. Finally a translation from the Greek I can stomach and it makes sense in the light of the Hebrew Scriptures - the Tanach. Being an English speaking person all my life I am not familiar with ALL the Hebrew words included in this translation so I look them up in the glossary and enjoy how they add to the understanding. I am absolutely thrilled to find this Bible. Adding it to my Torah studies snd currently enjoying the Psalms. Non Jewish readers only familiar with translated into English names may find the Hebrew names confusing at first, but you can figure them out easily. This Bible is a beautiful translation to add to anyone’s Scripture study. With this Bible you can see Jews and Christians are truly one people. Buy it and learn! I love this Bible. I had been reading the KJV for years. I decided to get this one because I want to learn about the history of the Bible from a Jewish perspective. This is great. It brings a better understanding of things that occurred and what the writers truly meant. It is very important to read all of the introduction before you began reading the scriptures, as it will help you understand the way the author wrote it. It helps you to know how to pronounce the Hebrew/Jewish names as well. What more can I say? I am super pleased with this purchase.

This book is incredible. I have never been so happy seeing the true Hebrew words and learning more!!! It has helped me so much to grow closer to Christ and God. I must also recommend Tom Bradford’s Torah Class (free) on YouTube that uses this book to teach almost all the Bible books from this book. His teaching methods on Ancient Jewish culture and history is second to none!!!

I love this Bible because it puts the Jewishness of the Bible back in it. It is very good quality and beautiful hard back. I’m also able to learn many Jewish words and their meaning from a Jewish perspective. Very easy to read and study. I’ve learned so much. I study for hours each day without realizing it. This translation from Hebrew to English is awesome. It’s my favorite out of all my other Bibles.

Absolutely love it. Have studied the Bible on and off for 50 years and never got so many questions answered. And the message is enriched. Anyone looking for the underlying teachings in these ancient writings will suddenly find things they never understood to be very clear when you hear these words they way they were heard and in the context that existed back then. The intro's and notes do an amazing job of bridging the gap between ancient Judaism and Christian interpretations down thru the ages of a culture and phrasing unfamiliar to us.

For people who want deeper understanding of the Bible, this is the one. This Bible has built in maps and reference materials as well as each book has a brief sinopse of when, where, and who authored the book. An additional feature the Complete Jewish Bible offers is Torah Portions, halph Torah Portions and the New Testament sections. I recommend this Bible for serious students of the Bible.

I really appreciate this bible for presenting a Jewish perspective on scripture. I remember that I was first curious as a teen about the actual names of the apostles, knowing that they were not Matthew, John, or Peter. Years later I started watching The Chosen, and especially the Bible round-table discussions for each episode and that made me want to know even more. This bible does that very well. It is mostly illuminating and while sometimes I disagree with certain commentary, it does expose the reader to that Jewish perspective, or at least that of the translator. What is truly exceptional about this bible is the layout. It is outstanding! I have never read a bible that is so rich with explanations throughout and these are presented in color coded tables. Also, the text is done so well. Most is in single column text for narrative sections. Certain passages are in bold, to highlight significance. Other sections, most notably in Psalms, are written as stanzas with each stanza separated by a line space. They were originally sung, so this makes sense and really helps with reading and taking them to heart. Certain prophetic sections are broken up as well and I appreciated this. One of the best features of this bible is where Jewish festivals and traditions are explained and how they relate to prophecy. This is helpful to all believers, whether Messianic Jews or Christian Gentiles. I will note here that Christ is the Greek translated term for Messiah, and Christian is derived from Christ, just as Messianic is derived from Messiah. Both terms are for followers of Jesus, or Yeshua as he was known in his language. Remember too (Christian Readers like me), that Messianic Jews are followers of Yeshua AND they are faithful to their Jewish religion, just as were all of the apostles and Jewish followers of Jesus. The translation itself has its very good points and some that I find poor. This is not a word for word translation, but one of meaning. One form is not better or worse than the other, but a translation of meaning can be more prone to misinterpretation and more so when done by a single person. A translation team would have been better. The writer explains this and even agrees with this point, but was constrained by available resources. I appreciate his honesty and excellent preface along with introductory notes at the beginning of this book. I myself have a 1978 edition of the NIV that I like very much, but also word for word translations like the KJV and ESV. This bible has some of the weaker flaws of an equivalence translation. In places very simple words are used like "stuff", and in other places more complex words like "assassination" are used. Both are very modern, but the complexity of language is uneven and better words could have been used. What I do like is the use of Hebrew names for persons and some things transliterated into English. Inexplicably though, he uses Imperial units of measure in many places and I'm not sure why. A very good replacement word is "Torah" in place of "law". Where most bibles will use "commandment" or "law", here "Torah" is used most often. In explanatory notes, Torah is defined as law, but also much more and the usage throughout illustrates that very well. A replacement I don't particularly like is "execution stake" for "cross". The translator explains his reasons, but I politely disagree. I point these things out so people will be aware and not be surprised. I recommend reading this Bible alongside a trusted translation. I found that to be very useful. Most times I found insight in this version, and then there were times I found my trusted version to be better in my personal view. In all cases it led me to a more understanding of the scripture and especially the Jewish Perspective that was intended.

I am BEYOND pleased with my purchase!!! As a disciple of Yeshua, He has put on my heart to not only learn the language of His people, but also to know the roots of what I believe. The Ruach HaKodesh has been leading me into studying the names of Ha’Shem (God) for the past few weeks and it has given me great insight into the Scriptures and the attributes of our ABBA (Father)! Everything came as promoted including the names of YHVH and the Hebrew names of our heroes/sheroes in both Testaments! I can’t wait to really dig in and uncover hidden treasures English translations can not produce. Yochanan 4:21-22, 21 Yeshua said, “Lady, believe Me, the time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Yerushalayim. 22 You people don’t know what you are worshipping; we worship what we do know, because salvation comes from the Jews.

The best bible i've ever bought. Very much satisfied. I advice anyone who wants a study bible.

I love this Jewish translation, it's easy reading and really gives clarity to scripture. For the average Christian (are we average? lol.) there is so much of interest in here.... Jewish Customs and the Introductions to each book are interesting. Maps, and glossaries at the back give English pronunciations and also English words to Hebrew.

The most amazing Bible ever. With this translation, and all the comments and explanarions that are provided, you begin to understand things that didn't make sense before. It all comes alive. Not to mention the print, which is amazing, with all the graphics in colour. Everyone should own one

This is my favourite Bible. Love the study guide! Beautiful print. My children have noticed I like to take it everywhere I go! It explains things in a way I have never seen before. So much clarity. I would buy again and again.

I had TCJSB in 2020. Its a totally a new experience and learning. The Jewish Festivals , The Jewish Names of our LORD. The very many messianic perspectives are so very useful. For me The Complete Jewish Study Bible is a priceless treasure gift from Yeshua to learn and know more about the Jewish Messiah Of Nazareth. We lost David Moreh in 2022.
