How to Restore Your C3 Corvette: 1968-82 (Restoration How-to)

My Vette has about 8 layers of paint on it. I was considering cleaning up the body a touch and throwing a new paint job over the top. But this book gave me some things to check on first... I was restoring the interior, a lot of custom interior work included... This book helped me see problems before they became crisis. So, I checked the previous paint, found all those layers, some not so well done... Leading me to decide to strip it and start fresh from the gel coat. I was able to find water leaks inside that I might have missed which would have been a problem for my new interior... I was also able to check on the condition of parts I hadn't thought about to know if I need to replace/repair or just clean them up... My goal is to make my Vette last another 30 - 40 years... Now I think I will be able to do just that.Lots of pictures with detailed descriptions.Step by step guides to practically everything.Key gotcha points are pointed out... This is not just about fixing that Vette that has been perfectly houses for 30+ years, it is about fixing that Vette that has been used, abused and really needs that restoration now...

Very complete book on the restoration process of the C 3

A good reference and lots of good photos but not enough info to be a stand alone restoration guide. Hoped to find info on how to select body mount shims, auto to 4 speed conversion. Noticed that steering column installation does not include all details in GM assembly manual. Did like seeing info on windshield frame replacement, correcting door gap, building a body dolly, trailing arm replacement, and window removal.

Well written and plenty of pics. Very much geared toward the diy community. Some major projects require special tooling.

Absolutely a must! Should have ordered this book when the restore was first started. Excellent articles, learned a lot of details of what to look for in old Corvettes. This is work every penny.

Avendo praticamente quasi tutti i libri di questa marca di auto, trovo che si ripetano molto su particolari come motore e altre cose, tralasciano invece la vera natura di quello che si intende per restauro, ovvero i particolari e in special modo la parte inerente la scocca in vetroresina.Scocca che presenta sempre problematiche, che vengono evidenziate troppo poco, poche indicazioni sul da farsi e molto poche foto, poi in una serie che va dal 68 all'82, prendere come esempio, l'ultima serie e proporre fotografie che non rispecchiano assolutamente il lavoro che fanno, non mi è piaciuta.Forse ai meno intenditori non se ne accorgeranno, ma mi sembra una presa in giro per gli altri. peccato!
