Ultrassist Large Mortar and Pestle Set, Glass Grinder, 16oz

Simple answer for what customers should know….. YES it’s worth the purchase!!!

It’s just the size I needed. It’s easy to use and clean. I use it to crush my cat’s pills and as long as I don’t break it, it will last a very long time.

There are voids where the pestle and mortar meet allowing for product to not grind well not at all good for pills

Perfect size for grinding garlic and other herbs. Smooth head makes for easy cleaning.

The bowl portion (mortar) has near flat bottom with minimally rounded corners, and the grinding club (pestal) is round, making it difficult to grind small material. Material stays in the corners. I expected a more rounded bottom to help feed material to the center of the bowl for better grinding.

This is perfect and is great for creating my own pigment paste. Highly recommend! It's worth every penny!

I disliked that the product packaging was not placed inside another box. It came only in the manufacturer’s box, and so it wasn’t protected during shipment. And I now I have to wait for another one to ship. ☹️ As to the mortar and pestle that wasn’t broken when it arrived, I found that the interior base of the mortar is not rounded enough to engage the pestle properly. I got this unit for the purpose of triturating inorganic salt preparations. I don’t think it will work properly. I will likely return it and look for a different design.

Ideal

Doesn't have that weird frosty / ground glass / glaze to it that other mortar and pestles have. Get this if you want to remove every last spec of material from what you are grinding

The mortar is quite mishapen seeming to have been left in the oven too long and unfortunately the shape inside allows powders to be missed by the pestle, along with the actual shape of the outside and top ridge to be uneven. The pestle seems to also scratch easily, or it may have had hidden scratches, as upon first use they appeared and makes it harder to get the power off of it. In any case, both of these are not really fit for purpose.

Gut

The glass of this mortar is too thin. Need to be careful when using it to avoid breaking it.
