Good information, tedious writing.
Good information, tedious writing.The information is good and acceptable. The writing style of feminine pronouns as the default are just tedious to read through. The interjections of "humor" is off putting as well. The humor is subject appropriate but just terribly unfunny. I imagine an editor sending a note back "be more personable!" and this is the result. An example of this appears in Ch 1. "The last paragraph was partially marketing that I'm contractually obligated to include in the book. (I'm kidding)" Please let me know if you found that funny because I didn't.In summary, this is about a 4 in content. It is about what you expect, competent but not thorough while the writing style makes you want to read KB articles to get the information instead of this book, hence a downgrade to 3.

A++ very good exam prep
Likely the best NSX exam prep reference today. Nice overview of the entire area of knowledge in the exam blueprint. The section(s) on packet walks seems overly complicated compared with how this was taught in the official VMware ICM course which I took about 12 months ago. But after using this as my primary study reference I passed the NSX exam with a large margin to spare, so it gets my recommendation.

I now have my cert
As with any official cert review VMware press offers, this covers about 50-60% of the test material. I knew that going into this, so I was able to complete labs to fill in the blanks and use the practice exams that came with the book to pass my VCP6-NV on my first attempt. If you are a good book learner (I know some people NEED the hands on to really get it) then this book should give you everything you need to get the cert. Just know that you have to do some labs on your own based upon the topics in the book to really understand the material.

Well written, and a useful tool in getting your NSX certification!
If you want to pass your VCP6-NX, read this book!Other people will have their opinions, especially if they are NSX gods. However, if you are simply looking to pass the VCP6-NX, then this is the book for you. Similar to the VCP6-DCV book, reading this book will enable you to pass the test. (I highly recommend you setup a home lab or use VMware's Hands On Labs, of course.)Well written, and a useful tool in getting your NSX certification!

Off to a rocky start
I'm only on page 169, but inaccuracies abound here. The errata on Pearson's website does not cover nearly the number of errors I've found. This has has a lot of confusion as I learn about this new topic, and I'd be in big trouble if I didn't have a solid foundation (I'm a VCP-DCV & CCIE-DC) already. I'll post a follow up once I make it through and attempt the exam.

one of the best technical books I've read
Bar none, one of the best technical books I've read. Author goes into enough depth, complete with walkthroughs on various NSX concepts to provide a very good understanding of the inner-workings of the different components. Easy to read as well. A must read if you are into this kind of stuff. So good I bought it twice. Digital and Hard copy.

Overall a good place to start studying for the exam
Overall a good place to start studying for the exam. I passed the NSX 6.2 exam using this book, building a home lab, and also doing HOL's.

Good book full of good explanations on the technologies
Excellent book comes with free test questions. If you use this and the measureup test questions (which are legal) along with relevant experience you should be good to go

A good book.
Updated comment: You can get the practice test kit by mailing Pearson VUE with your purchase details. This book has covered almost all of the topics to have a deeper understanding on the NSX terminologies.First of all I bought this book thinking that exam practice tests would be available but it appears after reading through the e-book that only a premium edition of the ebook has the practice tests available. Disappointed by this policy as its not clear while purchase, as this ebook is titled as an official cert guide for VCP-NV. Also, in Amazon I am not able to locate the premium edition!
