Fixing Your Feet: Prevention and Treatments for Athletes Review: Consistent and useful advice - I have Plantar Fasciitis (say "PLAN-ter fash-ee-EYE-tus") for a couple of years now and this book has some consistent and useful advice that is very practical. Although it is the most common form of foot pain it take very long to heal in some instances (6-18 months). This is why I bought the book. It advises you about healing by using proper arch support, never walking barefoot, taping, stretches, massage and occasionally icing and heat...Good stuff! I felt better after a couple weeks following the advice. This problem is only a chapter in the book. There are several foot issues (many that are ailments of athletes) and advice on healing. definitely worth the price and time to read. Review: Full of good information - Plantar fasciitis laid me up for 6 weeks before I bought this book. I am skeptical about "cures in a book". What I found here is a compilation of common sense and collective knowledge regarding the health of your feet. For a runner, foot health is critical. Having read the criticism of this book, I still ordered it. To me searching the web and tying to separate the solid info from the "stuff" is not for me. I am not willing to experiment on myself to save a buck. The author answered questions I had not thought to ask and I would never have found that information on my own. The info in this book has been vetted by the author and his sources. It has helped me establish a plan that has got me running again and that is worth a great deal to me. The bottom line is that I found it useful for more than my PF. If you're looking for an instant cure, it doesn't exist. If you're looking for information and a number of suggestions for both prevention and cure, this book is worth considering. I am back to running with only an echo of the pain that kept me out of my running shoes for over three horrible months. I walk normally now and am able to run to recover a great deal of my condition.

Excellent book with loads of information
Excellent book with loads of information. I am a long distance hiker and I have sweaty feet that easily get blisters. I learned so many things from this book that allowed me to manage all my foot problems to the point that I thru-hiked the 2600 mile PCT without a single blister!!! I've learned to manage blisters, taping my feet like pro, get rid plantar fasciitis and athlete's foot over the last few years all thanks to the knowledge I've gained from this book. Obviously if you have a serious foot problem go see a doctor. But if you use your feet hard and want to know all the tools to try to help your feet, then this is the ultimate resource.

A Must Read for all Runners
Great advice on how to take care of your feet from an expert. As an ultra runner I have had my share of frustrating feet issues. I have also see really strong runners side lined with stress fractures and p.f. I would love to avoid that! His style is a little patronizing but I didn't mind. He gives great advice on how to protect your feet, how to make them stronger to avoid injury and what to do if you have foot pain.

My Feet Thank You, John!
Without re-iterating the book description, the layout is easy to follow and reading the well-spaced text is a joy. I like the simple illustrations and the fact that whatever section applies to my current condition, I can use the suggestions in the book for daily preventative and treatment care. John is a very approachable author. I ended up ordering his 36-page booklet too as my EDC item. This book is a great feet reference and will stay nearby since my physical training involves my feet alot. Thanks, John! Great value offered through Amazon

Fantastic book covering absolutely everything that can happen to an athletes foot. Great tips on everything from taping to medical supplies to footwear. Love the writing style and the organization of the book. Written by a guy that has seen it all and drained it all. Was able to built a great (and super cheap!) medical kit I can take with me to races and lots of tips to keep my feet ready for whatever I throw at them.

My Feet SCREAM With PRAISE!!
This book was reccomended to me by an avid back packer from TrailSpace.com. I got it because I am planning a long trek and have had some blister/boot issues in preparation. This book is comprehensive and extremely informative. Even though it is geared a little more toward running, there is plenty of general information about the care and feeding of your feet as well as quite a good deal about hiking and back packing. If you want to keep your active ffet in good order, or get some beat up feet back to trekking shape, this is a MUST for your arsenal!

A Must-Have Book for Any Athlete!
Such a hugely helpful book! I ran my first half marathon before I read this and even being a long-time runner ended up with blisters and very very sore feet. After reading this and making a few changes to my socks, shoes and foot care, I ran my second half marathon with no blisters - NONE - and was in 4 inch heels that same evening at a company party.

This is ggod book for ultra runners but also helpful to amateur runners who do HM and FM and are not regular runners so that they keep recurring foot injuries. How useful is this book ? Well you can judge from the fact that in 14 tears it has run into 5th Edition ; and the 5th Edition itself has 4th printing in 4 years !!! Nothing more remains to be said .

The absolute bible for anyone who abuses their feet: hikers, runners, dancers, etc. I’ve lent this book to a dozen friends with foot complaints due to over-use, all found something useful in this book.

Fabulous book. If you have any problem with your foot maybe you will resolve it with this book (like me). Running is my passion and I know about sport but I have a pain in my heel for a long time. I ordered ,, Fixing my feet``, maybe as my last try, Now, I am running normal. Here you can learn about exact issues and how can you solve them. Author is not trying to be a doctor but most of pains are not cause of serious health problems. This is book for your healthy future. P.S. Sorry about my Tarzan english

I have pushed my feet beyond where they should go many times. I thought I had the answers to keeping them in good shape during endurance events but John's book gave me some real hints and tips that gave me many days of blister free running in the Jungle Marathon in 2011. I'm still using his advice now. A great book
