I spraypainted it black to match my decor, but it's made out of solid metal. I also replaced the pulleys as they were a little chintzy and were powdercoated so thickly that i had to hit it with a hammer to expose the threads. I'm still giving it 5 stars as everything else was very nice and I was able to get exactly what I wanted for far less than $120, which is what the others cost, before shipping from the UK.
