PORJET: Replacement 12.7mm DS-8A8SH DVD±RW SATA Burner Drive USE for THINKPAD T430 T430I T530 T530I T420 T420I T520 W500 W700 R400 R500

I had initially written a positive review, because it appeared that this DVD writer would suit my purposes, but unfortunately it would not work. It would read DVD's but not write them. It gave an error and made the blank DVD unusable. I wasted 3 testing this. I placed a writer of a different brand in the T420 laptop, and that one worked fine using the same software. So, returned unfortunately.

Assuming is not fact when sellers assume a DVD/CD drive fits Thinkpad laptops.It may fit other laptops, but not a Thinkpad W500.And because the nearest UPS is not open due to covid19, the next one is a 2 hour drive away in the city so I can't return it. That's life, but checking the comments next time I buy.

I got this yesterday for my Lenovo ThinkPad T430 laptop. My old optical drive had mysteriously stopped working. I was happy that this just popped right in and started working immediately.I have tested playing a DVD but haven't tested burning CDs. If anything goes wrong with that process I'll update this review.I did have to reset my BIOS clock after removing my battery but you can't really blame that on the optical drive.

This replaced my DVD ROM that came with my Lenovo T430. Works great.

Thanks. The first time I ordered this CDRW, it arrived in good time, BUT it was a DELL part, and NOT for the Lenovo R500. I had to send it back and wait until payday to order another one. This was very easy to install aand it worked immediately.

I got a nice Lenovo brand DVD Ultradrive that worked perfectly and looked new. Couldn't be better!

installed in a Lenovo ThinkPad T420 works great.
