High CRI Headlamp
First, let me start by saying I own a lot of D25 headlamps, mostly the S model. They are the best pound for pound headlamps on the market. Light weight, dependable, built in charging, economical. Sofirn flashlights in general check all the boxes for me. Ok that said, what distinguishes the L from the S model? Twin high CRI emitters. Colors pop. Redder reds, yellower yellows, and greener greens. Take 2 lights side by side and shine them at the same object and watch colors jump out at you with the D25L. If you are a cable splicer for instance, this means all the different colored wires will be easily seen. This perhaps is why hard hat clips are included in the package. Great electrical tech headlamp. You don't have to be a technician to appreciate high CRI though. Take a walk out in nature and appreciate all the colors of the forest. Also this model offers a more floody beam pattern which is great for more close up use. If you want more throw in a headlamp, go for the D25S model. All else is the same between the S and L D25. 5 brightness levels. 2 blinky modes. They have a nice easy to remember UI. One press on, one press off. Hold while on to change brightness. Double click for blinkies from off or on. The onboard charging option is one of my favorite features. Unscrew the end cap to expose the USB charge socket. It takes about 4 hours to fully charge a depleted battery with it's 1 amp charge rate. The indicator light changes from red to green when fully charged. All of mine stop just shy of 4.2 volts which is perfect. The 3000 mah 18650s Sofirn includes are decent batteries. A charge cord is included. At first I did not know how the included hardhat clips were used but a quick google shows them attaching to the headband and clipping to the hat's brim to prevent slipping off. That's about it. I put the D25S or L in my cars for emergencies and at my work bench to assist my tired old eyes. You will even find them scattered around the house. Gifted some to family. No complaints.

My go-to headlamp
I am a headlamp junkie and have used (and currently own) headlamps from the following manufacturers: Black Diamond, Petzl, Princeton Tec, Wurkkos and Zebralight. This Sofirn is the one I reach for first for most tasks, both indoors and outdoors. The CRI is easy on the eyes and the floody beam pattern does not have significant hotspots — it works great for illuminating the engine when working on cars and for closeup work. The battery life has always been more than sufficient and the built-in USB-C port makes it easy to charge (in fact I bought this headlamp specifically for a multi-day backpacking trip so that I could charge the lamp with a power bank, rather than carry around extra AA/AAA batteries. Spoiler alert: the floody beam was plenty bright for outdoors night tasks or even walking in the middle of nowhere.) The interface is really simple. Click the button to turn on the lamp. Hold the button down to cycle through the brightness levels (the light remembers your last setting.) The lowest level (30 lumens) is plenty bright for most indoor tasks. In summary, this light is my go-to light because it is no-nonsense and very easy to use. No fussiness, secret handshakes, or fifty-page size-six-font manuals to decipher.

Gone but not forgotten
I had these things for approximately a week and so I'm leaving at 4 stars because I used it for a week off and on but they must have been so good that somebody ended up stealing it I have no clue where they went or who stole it but it was stolen there's no doubt about it anyways so apparently they're pretty apparently it's a pretty good headlamp and so I recommend it it was comfortable and it did work well when I was using it for the whole week

Practical and great value
I haven't bought a headlamp style flashlight before but I would recommend this one to people. Even if you don't think you'd use it all the time, you never know when it could come in handy and, at this price, there's no reason not too (double so if you can find a discount code which Sofirn is extremely generous with on social media). I don't have any way of measuring output, but I'm not sure it truly reaches 1000 lumens. You almost wouldn't want it too considering you'll usually be working up close with this light. That said, it's plenty bright. You can see in the photos it is very floody, much more so than the SC31Pro I used for comparison. The color rendering is great as advertised. Again compared to the SC31Pro, you can see the difference. Please keep in mind the photos were taken with a phone camera on auto setting. It's extremely difficult to give true-to-life representation of color, even with a nice camera so the comparison shots are just to give a general idea. I like that the integrated charger is accessed by unscrewing the head rather than via a rubber flap. I think this is the better option to keep water tightness as high as possible. I would have loved if it utilized USB-C charging but micro is fine. The UI could be better in my opinion. Personally, I'd prefer a full click to change modes rather than holding to scroll through modes. I find that I have trouble landing on the exact mode I want. It'd be fine if you could hold then release on each mode but that seems to change "direction" i.e. from low->high to high->low. A light like this really also needs a very low/moonlight mode IMO- 1 lumen or even sub-lumen level. Still, at this price, it's a great value. If you can find the right promo, it's almost like getting the light for just a few dollars considering the price of batteries right now. At normal price, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a headlamp. I don't think you can find one at this price that combines this output, high CRI, and good runtimes via 18650 battery. Sofirn is also a brand I and most people trust to make products at a high quality even though their prices are low so you can't really go wrong if you're in the market and, even if you're not, you never know when this will come in handy.

Outstanding Value, Well-made, and Good Performance In A Headlamp
I don't write reviews for every product I purchase, but I am going out of my way to write this review because the D25L by Sofirn is a great headlamp - especially for the price. The headlamp arrived with three hard-hat clips, the headlamp, a micro-USB charging cord, and a Sofirn 3,000 mAH Li-ion battery. I immediately charged the battery inside the headlamp with the supplied cord until the green light appeared on the body of the headlamp. The voltage at full charge measured 4.19 volts - a full charge without overcharging the battery. Very nice. The headlamp output levels work as specified by Sofirn - the light memorizes the level you last used before turning the light off, and you can ramp up the output level by pressing and holding down the switch. A double-click on the switch activates the strobe, after which one click will turn off the light and re-set it to turn on in the normal output mode you last used before turning on the strobe. I have not tested the runtimes on the various output levels yet, but the manufacturer's specs, based on using their battery, are very good - a vast improvement on the lighter-weight, cheaper headlamps for sale on Amazon that are not built as well and don't have anywhere near the runtime of the D25L or D25S. The beam profile of the output is a very pleasant mixture of spot and spread. Sofirn says the D25L is more "floody" than the D25S, which has a more concentrated light output pattern. The tint of the D25L is very neutral, without being terribly yellow. I'd guess it is very close to the claimed 5000K. The headband is very comfortable, although you will notice the light on your head over time. But the weight is not oppressive, and I was surprised by the comfort of the product on my head. The headband tightens well and will not slip down. The build is very solid - good machining, mostly good anodizing (there is one scratch in the anodizing on the top of the headlamp) and o-rings at both ends of the battery tube, although not around the lenses. So, it is very water-resistant, but not submersible. No need for a submersible headlamp for me. Overall, this headlamp is a great value, and I am glad I bought it instead of one of the ultra-light headlamps with much less runtime and less quality. Highly recommended.

Lightweight, high quality headlamp
I bought this as I occasionally need a headlamp at work. It's light weight, especially when you consider the charger is built in. It's pretty easy to use. First, make sure you unscrew the battery compartment cap and remove the disk that protects the battery during shipping, then put the cap back on. The light won't work if you leave the disk inside. Next, loosen the cap on the other side to expose the micro usb charging port. Plug the included cord into the light and an appropriate power supply and a red light comes on to show that the light is charging. A green light comes on when the light is fully charged. It took mine 3 or 4 hours to charge the first time. You push the green button on the end to turn the light on. The light has 5 levels of brightness built in, and holding down the green button cycles through the light levels. Release the button when it gets to the level you want. Press the green button again to turn the light off. It looks like the light remembers the level you set, and turns back on at that level next time you press the button. Double clicking the button when the flashlight is off gets you to a strobe mode, and double clicking in strobe mode gets you to a bright beacon mode where the light flashes every 3 or 4 seconds. As mentioned in other reviews, the light has a nice tint that lets you see colors. Much better than some lights that have a bluish white tint that is bright but washes out colors. All in all this is a high quality light and it comes with a headband, battery, charging cable, and clips in case you want to attach it to a helmet. The only thing you need is a power supply to plug the charging cable in to. I used the one for my phone and it worked fine, but just about any USB power source should work.

A very good purchase .
I am an HVAC tech and spend time in attics and rooftops after dark . This light has a dial type brightness control that controls perfectly . The best headlamp I have ever owned. I have bought many different types and brands and this one is absolutely the best , by far .

Great headlamp
I was surprised by the usefulness of the double beam. It is far better than any headlamp that I have had before. I feel like I wasted all of the money that I have spent on previous ones. It has 5 brightness levels that fit any situation. Highly recommend, it's definitely worth a few more bucks over most others.
