You do have to keep the bearings lubricated. 1 drops for every 3 trips and it will cast very smoothly. Highly recommend if you are just starting out with bait casting, easy to use. I taught my 11 year old grandson in less than 30 minutes, now he doesn’t use his spincast.

This is the first baitcaster that I have ever owned. And I wasn't sure that it would be a perfect fit for me and my fishing stuff. I am so glad to report that I was absolutely wrong. I have this very specific reel connected to a trout boy rod holding 30 lb braided line. it is so smooth to use and retrieve that I fell in love after the first use.
