Simple read but high level of teaching
This was a good detailed and simple read but a high level of teaching. I like how it teaches you the concepts and there isn't a lot of fluff that some books have. This company's books are highly used in University classes especially online content. I would recommend this book for anyone learning JIRA. I would buy again.

Useful resource for JIRA admins
We had been using JIRA Studio (hosted version) for about 6 months when this book came out. Most of whats in this book I figured out during that 6 month period but reading it has helped me understand and structure things properly. It has helped me tremendously with planning and designing new JIRA projects going forward. We are getting even more out of JIRA as a result of this book. This book can be read while creating examples on JIRA in one afternoon. If you are a JIRA admin wanting to get the most out of JIRA, give this book a go!

Not a book if you are new to JIRA and want to JIRA Admin
The book is pretty thin and easy to read. If you have used JIRA or ideally has some admin experience. this one may be for you. If you are just in IT field and want to check out JIRA admin certification, I don't feel the book is right for you. It is more of a best practice, or more likely to be FAQs type; far away from a reference for certification. I hope this helps. Author certainly knows the stuff though.

Worth Reading if you are a new jira admin
This is a good intro to jira administration. I learned many of its lessons already, the hard way. If you are new to jira administration, this is a good quick read to help pull all the documentation together.

Not useful
I've been teaching myself Jira administration for 3 weeks. The screen schemes, field configuring, & workflows can be very confusing. I found very little of value on those topics in this book. I expected to learn the ins & outs of how those parts work together, any potential 'gotchas', & why things are done a certain way. That did not happen. The Atlassian documentation is extensive, dry, & at times difficult to use, which is why I bought this book. I am normally a huge fan of the O'Reilly books & have a background in computer programming & unix administration. I expected much more & I too feel ripped off after paying full price for this book. Half the price would be more appropriate, and I say that as someone accustomed to paying a lot for computer books. Perhaps this book is TOO concise.
