These latches are great. No more hood flutter when meeting big trucks. Should have bought them long ago for my jeep jk. Installation took about 30 minutes. I did use my oem nuts on them as they had a wider diameter.

I like absolutely everything about this product. You’ll see and feel for yourself when you first open the box. The packaging is on-point. And when you first remove the latches from the packaging you’ll feel the weight of the all-metal super high quality construction. As for ease of installation, I’ll give it an 8.5 out of 10. The only real (but slight) difficulty is removing the old bottom latch bolts and installing the new ones that come with this kit. And the only thing that makes it slightly tricky is just getting your hand and a ratchet up inside the fender well into the relatively small space where the lower latch bolts reside. But with a little patience and perseverance it obviously can be done. If you wanted to make the ease of installation a 10 out of 10, just invest the 15 minutes to remove the front grill and access to these bolts becomes a breeze. I just didn’t have the time this morning to do that so I did it the slightly awkward way. Otherwise what can I say. These hood latches look great, are obviously well made and only took me 40 minutes to install - 20 minutes per side. One quick note: these fit the JK AND the JL. They come with four rubber pads that sit on the body where the lower latch attaches. 2 of them are for the JK and the other 2 fit the JL. They are labeled (stamped into the rubber on the back, JK or JL) but you can’t mix them up regardless. The JL pads don’t fit the JK and vice versa. So the 2 pads you don’t use will obviously be leftover.

Looks great and eliminated that unsettling hood wobble when a big truck drove past me in the opposite direction. Easy install.

First, I save 5 star ratings for the best of the best products and as much as I like these latches, the instructions were awful and not much more than a handful of photos. That said, if you are semi-handy you can grasp what needs to be done and in what order but there are likely to be a few re-do moments. Take some time to think about things, take your time doing the work, and while it's a cumbersome and time consuming process it's pretty easy skill-wise. I did detach my grill by removing the snap buttons and pulling it loose from the bottom clips. I left the wiring harnesses connected and leaned the grill forward. That took only a few minutes and really, imho doing so saved me much more time getting access behind the fenders. Can you get your fingers and socket wrench in there with the grill on? Maybe but why struggle more than needed? If I had to do the job again I'd probably mask off the body and fender areas surrounding the latch area. You are working with metal parts, Allen wrenches, etc and one slip and you got a nice scratch. I worked very carefully and deliberately with luckily no oops-es but it could easily happen. I felt the size of a 3/8 socket wrench worked best in the small space behind the fenders but the normal length of it was a little short so I used a pipe as a makeshift extension. That helped a lot holding the lock nut in place behind the fender as I threaded the bolt into it. Regular nuts vs the lock nuts provided would've made the install much easier overall. When you mount the upper "hook" piece I'd start with it at it's lowest position. For me it was perfectly tight there and any higher would've been way too tight.

Bought this for my wife's JK Rubicon to stop the hood from bouncing at highway speeds. This kit is nicely built and has different rubber grommets depending upon whether you have a JK or JL. You will need a 10mm and 13mm sockets or box-end wrenches. It was pretty darn difficult to put these on, as the nuts on the lower factory latches were very difficult to reach from the back. I ended up having to pull the front of the fender liners off to get to the 13mm nuts holding the bottom latches on. The correct tool would be a ratcheting box-end 13mm with multi-angle head, but alas I did not have one of these, so I had to make due with a 13mm socket on a very small socket handle and lots of scrapes on my hands. Adjustment is a bit of trial and error, but once you have it adjusted correctly it solidly holds the hood down. The instructions were very basic and provided no help with removing the factory latches.

Installed these on our 2016 Jeep Wrangler JKU after one of the stock hood latches broke and left the hood vibrating. Pretty easy to install. I will say the nut for the bottom portion either on the stock piece or the new piece is much easier to get to from under the vehicle vs inside the engine bay. Took me a bit to figure that out. After that the install was quick. I did have to adjust the pieces on the hood a couple of times to get the correct amount of force to close the latch. Otherwise they look nice and seem to function well. I am curious how long they will stay black and not fade. Time will tell.

Perfect replacement for the OEM Rubber latch

These fit perfectly and they hold the hood down tight. No more freaky wind gusts blowing my hood up and down against the rubber latches. They are also adjustable to how tight you want them to snap over. I installed a clear rubber stick on bumper on the top of my fenders for them to rest on when they are open as they are quite solid and robust and they could scratch the fenders if you just Fling them open. Overall very happy with them. They don't stick up in the air in your view like the lame factory ones either.
