Wiseco VSK4 Premium 8.90mm OD Valve Shim kit

My daughter has a KTM 790 Duke, and it was time for a valve clearance inspection (15 K miles). If you're aware, KTM has had an issue with the camshafts on the 790/890 engines. I was curious as to the status of the cams, so I took her bike apart. Luckily, ALL of the valves were in spec, and the cam lobes looked great. We dodged the bullet with the KTM camshaft issue. That being said, i didn't use any of the shims, but I did measure both shim height and shim diameter of a number of shims, and all were within spec. So, IF you need them, you'll have good shims. If you don't need them, consider yourself lucky because that means that the engine is in good shape.

I ran these shims in my 2022 Aprilia RS660 for an ASRA race weekend in the expert grid. Also the test day prior to races. They will fit just fine if you are sure you have the clearance between the top of the valve stem and the valve spring retainer. Some engines, I believe 2021 and earlier but not certain, require the OEM shims which have fillets cut out to take care of tolerance issues. Do your own research and confirm it yourself, don't guess.

Used these instead of the BMW shim kit for the S54 engine valve shims. These are way cheaper. Time will tell if they are comparable quality, but from my research, other people are claiming that they are.

This was advertised as 5 shims of each size, so I elected to buy this kit versus the Hotcams kit which was $10 less. When it arrived, there are ONLY 3 of each shim size, so this kit is identical to the Hotcams kit, just $10 more. Quantity description is 100% inaccurate. Only 3 each shims of 33 sizes, not the 5 shims of 47 thicknesses which is advertised. I am contemplating returning this one and buying the Hotcams kit just due to the bad information.

If you do your own maintenance on your BMW R1250GSA, these are a great buy. If you've ever tried to get the right shim from your Motorrad dealer, you know the frustration I've experienced in the past. This all but eliminates that frustration and at a very reasonable price.

Good kit for what it is, but if you haven't adjusted the valves in a very long time or don't know history of the car, you need to buy 2. For an E46 M3 with 18 of the 24 valves needing adjustment I needed 4-6 of the sizes 2.20 - 2.28. Only 3 come in each kit. It works out to you spending money on tons of shims that you will likely never need or use, but it is what it is and 2x this kit is still vastly cheaper than OEM.

The shims are exactly like prescribed. They also fit Ktm exc 500 2017-2018
