not impressed
The DG834PN was a replacement for an aging (but functional) D-Link router. The size of the DG834PN is a surprise - considerably bigger than the Netgear DG834GT.The setup is easy - link to phone, type in broadband userid/password, and away you go.First I linked using the internal wireless connection of my dell 6400 inspiron, and although the laptop and router were sitting beside each other the signal strength was good - should have been excellent. Moving around made no difference. The signal strength from the D-Link has always been very good/excellent.I then tried the WPN111 USB adapter. It's so big that I had to take out the adjescent usb plug of another device to allow it to plug in.Tried it in a laptop and desktop with similar results. The signal was only good - not as I would have expected excellent. So, it's on it's way back to Amazon.

Setup Blues
Gave this modem router three stars because I am not sure what a five star performance would be! It works - so far.Set up for a lot of reviewers was a doddle. For me it was a pig. Took four hours of head scratching and plugging back in to my old modem to search the net for answers.1. My browsers initially couldn't locate the router using the supplied address2. The automatic setup wizard was supposed to locate my internet service provider and log on automatically. It didn't. I had to set it up manually. For any other Tiscali people be advised 1) the user login is your whole [email protected] and not (as suggested by the netgear manual) the initial bit yourname. 2) Tiscali's support pages on setting up a Netgear router was invaluable. Well done Tiscali.3. Finally, got on the net with Firefox and got email working fine. But Internet Explorer kept showing a 403 Forbidden message and wouldn't show any internet pages. Eventually after trawling through the Netgear support pages I found that I needed to untick a LAN setting box in my Explorer tools option. What a palaver.
