How hard to pump? Could a 6-year old boy pump it?

Yes 6 years old boys can easily pump it .. even my 3years old daughter is pumping very easily as balls are foam balls

Does this collect the foam balls?

You have to reload the balls one by one by hand from the opening in the front

What size are the balls?

I would say smaller than a ping pong ball for sure. I wouldn't recommend for any kiddo who is still in the stage of putting things in their mouth.

Is this compatible with nerf ?

The balls are about .8 of an inch. I see nerf has small foam balls but they look like they have a golf ball texture. The balls with this set don’t have those type of indentations
