My son totally loved it, and are fairly accurate representation of the animals... He already learned all the names and is able to identify them in other places like videos or books, all while he's just 4 yrold, thanks to this set!

I showed my mom (who has a degrees in marine biology and environmental science) these funny figurines and joked that she should buy them for me (who has a degree in wildlife ecology and conservation and a deep love of prehistoric oceans) (pun not intended). She got them for me for Christmas last year, but said I had to share them with my then-20 month old son 😂 So I listened to my mother for once, and these are, almost a full year later, some of my son’s FAVORITE toys. It has absolutely amazed me to see his creativity! They have appeared in every container, every bowl (usually my mixing bowls), random nooks and crannies in the car, buried in kinetic sand, during bathtime/beach days…for a while we had to keep a close eye on the big gray fish one (can’t remember the name) because he was emotionally attached to it and would become distraught if it got lost. I become distraught when I step on the very sturdy dorsal fin because it blends absolutely perfectly into our carpet. Currently at 2 1/2, his favorites are the orthoconic squids and the off-brand nautiluses (ammonoids?). He likes to use the squids as “keys” for our antique doors 🤦🏻‍♀️🤗 So…BIG favorite. And for all that, they’ve managed to hold up even better than our Schleich farm animals, which are now exhibiting some paint wear in vulnerable spots like ears, noses/beaks, etc. Highly recommend these little figurines—and try to look them up, you and/or your kiddos might learn something new! (For those wondering, my favorite is Dunkleosteus. Look at those cute little teeth!!! 😭😍)
