5 Soul-Searing StarsEvery once in a while, I read a book that has a profound effect on me. Sometimes I can pinpoint why a book effected me this way, other times, like this one, there's no real rhyme or reason, I just know this book will resonate with me for a long time to come. The story of Sophie and Kolan evoked so many emotions inside me that I've actually had to take 24 hours after finishing their beautifully written love story to come up with the words to write this review. This is the story of Sophie or Lia as she's known at the beginning of the book a beautiful young woman that has left everything and everyone she loves in order to protect them, whether it's what needed to happen or not, this was the decision she made because of a constant threat that seems to know where she is...."It's a sad girl just trying to survive, hoping to live to see another day. Even if that day is a lonely one."Sophie has settled in Sunset Bay for the time being as she felt she was safe there for a while. She's working and keeping to herself, but still has a fear that overrides everything she does. Enter Kolan, a retired Champion of the EFC, who runs the local gym and the person that ends up encountering Sophie when she's inquiring about some self-defense classes. To say these two have a visceral reaction to each other is putting it mildly. However, they're not really willing to admit that to themselves right away. Kolan can tell there's more than meets the eye with Sophie, especially at her insistence that the scarf she wears around her neck never be removed. This is a small issue for him as it's about control for Kolan above anything else...."Control feeds the scars of my dark past and even darker soul."We come to find out why control is so very important to Kolan and how it's permeated into EVERY facet of his life. It broke my heart when I read this portion of the book. However, as he and Sophie get closer, their feelings for each other are palpable. I could feel them coming off my kindle. This is entirely thanks to the hypnotic words of Ms. Lynn. Her writing surpasses that of a lot of authors I've read and she has the innate ability to bring the reader right into the scene as if we're sitting there watching it being acted out. As Kolan reaches into Sophie's heart he lets her know that she can trust him...."But one day, you're going to tell me who made you so afraid. And if they're still breathing - they won't be for much longer."The more time they spend together and they dance around their feelings, both physically and emotionally, because Sophie is an incredibly gifted dancer, she wants this physical connection with Kolan so badly...."My eyes fall closed as I wait with bated breath, knowing this man's touch is going to change my lonely existence forever."Touching even more of my emotions are the times that Sophie reaches out to her family but not in the traditional manner that one might expect. This is again because of her fears. As I was sitting on my train ride home from work reading this scene in the book, my heart was literally breaking in two. Tears streaming down my face, as they are now while I write this review. There is a searing pain that rips through all of them. I actually had to stop reading for a while to collect myself and try to put my heart back together so I could finish reading the book.As the story moves along, Sophie grows her confidence while Kolan tries to get her to make friends with all the guy's wives and be social with them. Their circle of friends embraces Sophie with no questions asked, just because she's important to Kolan. This will come into play later in the book as well. Because Kolan, Nick and Cooper will all be an active participant in the conclusion of this book.... talk about a nail biter!!!!When Kolan and Sophie consummate their relationship, it has all the things you want when reading these red hot scenes... it's dirty and sexy and steamy and wowza I even had to fan myself a couple of times....."I knew you'd be the best thing I've ever tasted."Just knock me over right now!!! Once these two are connected physically like this, everything changes for them and they both wonder if they can have a forever together. Sophie needs to understand she's not the damaged girl she thinks she sees in the mirror...."This might be all you see when you look at yourself but it isn't what anyone else sees. It's only a small part of who you are and even that part is not flawed. We all have weaknesses, Soph, and I like that I've gotten to see all of yours. Trust me when I tell you, the furthest word from my mind when thinking of you is weak."Those words right there is a game changer for Sophie and her feelings not only about Kolan and what he feels for her, but most importantly how she feels about herself. When the right words are said to someone in a situation like Sophie finds herself, it can go one of two ways and in this case, it went in the very right direction.Just as Kolan has a such profound effect on Sophie, she has invaded his heart and mind unlike anyone has ever done and he needs to decide what he's going to do with these overwhelming feelings he has for her...."The only girl who has ever been able to penetrate my walls and breathe life into my dead heart"Don't think that this book is all smarmy love and depressing and will bring you down. That is absolutely not the case. There is plenty of fun and good times in this book. Benny is a perfect example of this. I'm not going to expand too much on him. Let's just say, he is one of a kind. There is also a suspense at the end that literally had me holding my breath and all the good stuff in between all of these scenes.I could continue to expound on the fabulousness of this book but you need to read it for yourself and experience each and every emotion that I felt. My love for this book knows no ending. This is a book that I will absolutely be reading again and again.

Control is a beautiful thing!
Especially when it comes in the form of Kolan Slade…. ☺ Kolan is a retired EFC fighter whose ever present obsession is control in and out of the ring. It’s all he’s ever known and he craves it like most women crave chocolate. He just has to have it. So what happens when the most beautiful and innocent girl he has ever seen comes walking into his life unexpectedly? Can he give up his obsession? Does he form a new obsession? Is change even an option for him? Y’all know I can’t tell you how that plays out. But what I can tell you is that this book is absolutely fantastic and true to KC Lynn form it is brilliantly written!!!!Sophie is an absolutely amazing character. I loved everything and I mean EVERYTHING about this girl! What happens to her is absolutely horrific and all because she has a beautiful heart and was being nice?! Most people wouldn’t do what Sophie does after her tragedy, but she is a fighter through and through and sees no other way. Although, this absolutely broke my heart and brought me to tears (those big fat ugly tears, ya you know what I’m talking about) I respected her immensely for it. Someone, somewhere was looking out for her though, and she lands in a small town with some pretty HOTT, honorable, and fierce men that we all know will help solve all her problems. Especially Kolan, who seems to take quite the liking to our Miss Sophie lol…. I adored her for coming into her own and finally giving it to Kolan, that over possessive alpha – she kinda brings him to his knees and it is pretty epic ☺KC Lynn has written some pretty complex characters in the past. I mean all have been honorable and swoon worthy and I love them all, but there is definitely something special about Mr. Kolan Slade. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but there is a little something different about him – you will just have to read him to see lol…Everything about the way these two get to know each other and come together is beautifully written. I absolutely loved their story. The way they start out as friends and just ease into a relationship, it’s really sweet and HOTT, as if we would expect anything less from KC?!!“I want to look at you while I’m ....... you. To look in your eyes as you take all of me, and know that I have you the same way you do me.”And as always, you get little snippets of our favorite Men of Honor, which always makes me feel like I am at a reunion with some of my best friends!!! This is truly another fabulous read from KC and I just can never get enough of her stories ever!!!!

Just as fantastic as the first time around!
I just did a re-read of this book and it was just as amazing as it was a few years ago. There is just something about a damsel in distress and a possessive, protective alpha that does something to me. Sophie has been in hiding for the past 15 months, she has an obsessive stalker that she had befriended when they were in high school. She had to run to keep those she loves safe. This led her to the town of Sunset Bay where she is met with an amazing group of people, one in particular, Kolan Slade former fighter now her self-defense instructor. The chemistry between these two were instant, but Kolan has demons and Sophie has fears. The road to their HEA was bumpy but so worth it! Even though Kolan knew she was hiding from something or someone, he tried to stay away from her for her own good. But when he finally found out the real danger she was in, he was all in.I loved Kolan and Sophie’s story so much! I swooned with the way Kolan felt so protective over Sophie from the very beginning and when the attraction could no longer be denied, the dirty talking alpha emerged. And we have Sophie, who was going by the name of Lia to keep hidden, endured so much, she gave up her life and family to protect. I loved how they were both able to heal each other. But it was not just their story I adored, the familiar secondary characters were all just as awesome. The way they rally around one another and being there for each other was just heartwarming to see. And I really can not forget to mention little Benny, he was such a hoot! The things he said and did made things so much fun. Loved this book!

Completely gripping
Another fantastic book in this series, I have been eagerly awaiting Kolan's story and it truly did not disappoint. As this story was full of emotion, suspense and fun, mainly thanks to a cheeky ten year old called Benny, who quickly stole not only Kolan and Sophie's heart but mine too.And overall I thought it really was a great read. That had me completely hooked from the moment I finished the prologue and then kept me gripped until the very end; and I'm so happy this isn't the end of the series and I can't wait to read more. And I would happily recommend An Act of Obsession and the series itself to others.

5 Amazing stars
Let me start by saying I absolutely adore KC Lynn she is one of the authors who is an immediate one click for me. So when she announced she would be giving Kolan his own book, I couldn't wait to read it.An Act of Obsession is the third book in the Act of Honor series, it tells the story of Kolan Slade & Sophie Parish.Sophie was everything that I loved in a heroine she was strong, sassy & incredibly brave. After a terrifying & heartbreaking ordeal Sophie's life changes & she goes on the run leaving behind everything she ever loved including her identity. When we meet her again she is called Lia & working in a police station with Men of Honor's Cooper McKay he convinces her to try out self defence classes & this is where she meets Kolan Slade for the first time. *Ahem clears throat* there is a new book boyfriend in town & let me tell you Kolan was all kinds of swoon worthy bossy & one bad ass fighter."One day, you are going to tell me who made you so afraid and if they are still breathing they won't be for much longer."As the story progresses we learn more about Sophie & Kolan's past. We watch there relationship grow & build into something beautiful & eventually into love. "Where on earth did you come from?" Sophie asks. I've been wondering the same thing about you."This is hands down some of KC Lynn's best writing. The chemistry between Sophie & Kolan was hot & I fell love in with them over & over again. They are officially my favourite couple."Dance with me Kolan, it soothes the soul"

At last We got Kolan's story... It's doesn't disappoint 5+*
We've waited so long for Kolan's story, we've been teased on and off throughout this series, enough to know that his story would be well worth the wait and it so was.!Yet again K.C. Lynn pulled out all the stops, the storyline was so well thought out the whole business with Daniel was absolutly riveting, this authors imagination never falters.Kolan was quite a private person for obvious reasons, being accused for something he didn't do didn't help, it made him more guarded. As An Act of Obsession opened up with the prologue we were introduced to Sophie, I knew I was going to like her straight away, she was a dancer, she was bubberly with a nice personality however a few pages in and it all changed for Sophie.Fifteen months on and Sophie and Kolan's paths would cross they didn't know it at the time but it would be the start of a beautiful relationship. They were good for each other and definitely drawn to one another and while Kolan was experiencing so many different feelings especially as it wasn't want he normally went for, he just couldn't help himself, he soon realised something was seriously up with Sophie.Kolan only knew her as Lia Kay it would be much later on that he would find out her real name and why she was hiding and so terrified..it all came to a head it was good it did because Kolan was now on board with keeping her safe not that he was doing that already but he realy was like a warrior.!!Honestly this is such a good storyline and it has you completely captivated and at times holding your breath, there's a real mix of emotions and anticipation what with Sophie trying to survive and dodge Daniel knowing he'd been in her apartment, drugged and been filming her etc was absolutly awful, he would stop at nothing. It was a very stressful time, it was only a matter of time before Daniel struck again and as bad as it could have been Kolan got there just in time, even though Sophie was hurt we could all breath a sigh of relief because there was no more Daniel.Sophie could now relax without the fear of being watched, have her parents and sisters back in her life and after a few tense moments and some misunderstanding between Kolan and Sophie they realised they couldn't be without each other.I have to say Benny is defiantly a keeper and I only hope he features strongly in any future books in this brilliant series, he really stole the show at times...absolutly brilliant..The epilogue couldn't have been more perfect..!!Looking forward to much more..

Beautifully Broken. Beautifully Passionate. Beautifully Brave.
Seriously ladies I don't quite know where to begin with this one. I guess first off I am a huge KC Lynn fan, having read all of the MoH series & the AoH, I knew Kolan & Sophie's story was going to be just as amazing as the rest, but honestly it was more, so much more.Sophie Parish is running. Running hard. From one single act of kindness a long time ago, her life changed in the most tragic & life changing of ways. Her aim - to keep those she loves safe & the only way she knows how is run & keep running, leaving all she loves behind, including her identity. She finds herself in Sunset Bay & tries her hardest to stay hidden, refusing to form bonds she knows will be broken when she is forced to run again. That is until Kolan Slade. An unplanned visit to the MoH gym brings her to this dark, dangerous but beautiful man who she is drawn too.Kolan Slade is angry, frustrated & fighting hard not to break. Retiring from EFC after his world crashed down on him, he has found some resemblance of peace & purpose at the gym, working with the youth programme, trying hard to make a difference in lives that most have forgotten about or just basically don't give a damn about - like Benny (eeek this kid has me laughing & crying at the flip of a switch. Seriously love this little dude) Constantly battling the darkness, not only of his past, but the ones that reflect his sexual needs & desires, he finds himself constantly at war with himself - Until Lia (Sophie) walks into the gym. Her beauty, softness & raw terror that he sees in her eyes floor him. He needs to know her story, he needs to help her from whatever it is that is destroying her. His new obsession will be to protect her at all costs.Without spoilers this story really, truly is so beautifully tragic it broke my heart. I sobbed, hiccupped, held my breath & had to pause a few times. Sophie is so damn strong, a survivor, a fighter - even if she doesnt realise. She is utterly beautiful inside & out & it filled my heart to see her character develop into the women she was born to be. Kolan is everything you want in an alpha & a whole lot more. Yes he is sexy beyond damn belief, strong, powerful, dominant but he also caring, protective, loving & so broken himself he doesn't know if he can ever have a happy ever after. For me, this truly is one of my best reads this year. I feel so overwhelmed with emotion just writing the review. There are some authors in this world who have the ability to leave a permanent footprint on your heart & soul & KC is 100% one of those.Men of Honor is the first series where you are introduced to so many amazing characters that you will find in Kolan & Sophie's story. Their story is the third book in the Acts of Honor series. Although it can be easily read on it's own, I can't recommend enough that you start at the beginning, fall in love & lust with all the guys & girl crush on the ladies. You will truly wonder how your managed to not know these beautiful people sooner. On that note ENJOY!

Sighhhhhh* I just love this Authors Alpha's and this one is no exception
Sighhhhhh* I just love this Authors Alpha's and this one is no exception. This is Book 3 in the Act's of Honor series. This is Kolan and Lia/Sophie's story. We've met Kolan in a few previous books he's Katelyn's brother. He's pretty much a loner and standoffish with everyone except his sister. He prefers to be on his own. After recently being accused of something he didn't do he's retired from his Job as an EFC fighter. He left as the heavyweight champion and he's content to be out of it after things that happened in Katelyn's story. He is now filling his time teaching self-defence at The Men of Honor gym to kids and adults. This is the first time meeting Lia/Sophie. She's on the run after a violent attack leaves her scarred and running for her life. She's left everything she's ever known and loved in order to protect them and herself. She finds herself in Sunset Bay and she gets a job at the local Police station with Men of Honor favorite Sheriff Cooper McKay. He knows she's not who she appears to be but is waiting for her to open up and let him help. He knows she's been hurt so he suggests she attend a self-defence class at the gym. She's not keen on being in crowds of people but decides she'll go along and see if she can get one on one training. There she meets Kolan and the story goes from here. There are a few twists and turns along the way with Kolan battling his own demons while trying to save Lia/Sophie. There's also her past which catches up with them along the way. I won't give anymore details because i hate spoilers but know you're in for a gripping ride. This story is steady paced and keeps you turning page after page for these two. I was drawn in and kept there. I ate up those pages wanting them to conquer anything that got in their way, and boy do they, together. It will fill you heart up to the brim and leave you smiling and very happy.I had some "feel's" for Kolan anyway seeing as i love me a tortured soul but this story just makes you fall hook line and sinker for him. We've seen glimpses of how he can be with Katelyn but with Lia/Sophie he opens right up and believe me you'll let him straight into your heart. He's everything you come to expect from this authors hero's and so much more! He's surprisingly kind and generous without many people actually seeing it. He's rough and ready but also sweet and loving, he's everything you want in a book boyfriend. Ohhh i forgot to mention he's HOT!!! I mean seriously skilled HOT! Some of the love scenes will leave you breathless and needing a spanking. I love him, i want me a Kolan and have swiftly entered him into my book boyfriend hall of fame.Lia/Sophie is probably one of the sweetest and strongest heroine's you'll ever read. After what she's been through you would expect her to be a little more broken and timid than she is. She's pretty much the opposite, although she's obviously very scared and little guarded she's really brave. Even though opening up to Kolan could mean all sorts of problems for her she can't help it. If Kolan put his guard up to her she confronted him and knocked it down and although Kolan insisted on control i think she had it from the start with him. Without being bossy and pushy she helped him open up and also to heal too. I'm happy my Kolan got her to be his.The supporting characters were also amazing. We get to see some old favorites in there and i love catching up with them. Also a new character has grabbed a piece of me heart!! Little Benny! He's one of the kids Kolan is teaching self-defence to and he's like a mini Sawyer, funny, cocky and lovable and was a great addition to this series I'm hoping to see a lot more of him.I would highly recommend this book to anyone but would suggest that you read the other books in this series so that you have the full story. Plus those are pretty good too so don't miss out. Overall a big massive honorable 5 star's!
