Review: It's totally my favorite small telescope! - It's true! This has become my favorite small telescope! Yes, I know it's a "toy"... But it's really so much better! Some not so great stuff, but it's still so good... The tripod is not great, but it's good enough. The finder scope is barely okay, but usable. The cell phone adapter is actually fine and quite functional. Yes, it's a polymer body, but it's also pretty solid and stronger than it looks. The optics are actually just short of amazing for such a small and fragile looking telescope! I bought it when it was marked down by roughly 1/2 the normal price, which is literally the only reason I bothered with it at all. $65 was fine, twice that amount definitely wasn't. To me anyway. I know they sell a version without the finder scope and it has a shorter table-top tripod at $99. I almost bought that one until I saw this was on sale. Your judgement may vary. The telescope itself has become one of my favorites! Not even kidding! I put a Red Dot finder on it, with a proper mount and I added a vixen dovetail to that strange rectangle that's molded into its base. I use a Sky-Watcher AZ GTi mount in equatorial mode because I really hate trying to follow objects by hand. Goto and tracking is so awesome! I really love that it has the "hatch" that is easily removed and fits surprisingly well. It's great for showing people how these work, and how the light moves through the optical path. But honestly, I love that I can open it up anytime to blow out any dust that may have slipped by. The internal barrel is very flat black, and the tube is baffled, which means really good contrast. You'll notice it immediately when you first look at the moon. The diagonal (erecting) is better than I expected, and more important, it "corrects" the image so when you use it during the day, everything is upright and left to right. Daytime use is extremely satisfying! The 20mm eyepiece (magnification power of 37.5x), is surprisingly clear and sharp and though I own much better eyepieces I still use it exclusively. With the addition of a 2x Barlow (thus the 20mm "shortens" to 10mm), increasing the magnification power to 75x, I can clearly see the bands of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn, sharp crisp detail of craters and mountains on the Moon. This little telescope has a theoretical maximum magnification power of 120x (aperture in mm multiplied by 2, (60mmX2=120) in perfect "seeing" conditions, but in practice, atmospheric conditions will limit that to about 100x. So, at most I would risk a 7mm (mag power of 107x). Or, if you really want to push your luck with a 6mm (mag power of 125x), you might see more without too much dimming or blurring, maybe. I haven't bothered with higher power eyepieces yet, but I may in the future because Maksutovs sometimes are able to exceed the theoretical limits now and then. I risked this purchase because I got it cheap, and with the desertcart return policy, I figured there wasn't much to lose. I'm glad I got it, and I would buy it again. Without hesitation.
Review: AS GOOD AS IT GETS! EX value. - Very sharp-high contrast image. Don't let the blue plastic fool you. Real good design and quality here. This is my second and even better than the first from when they first came out. The internal glare baffling is perfect. Collimation was perfect and cleanly passed a 200 line Ronchi test. The tripod vertical is a little tight even when loosened, but image damps out in a long 1 second. Slick cloth carry bag now with decent finder. Just one eyepiece this time. Camera adapter works just fine. Image at 2 miles with old i phone.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What would be a good case for the sarblue mak60 with finderscope and tripod? if you could provide a link, that would be great. tia**
A: I use an old medium size backpack, works perfectly because it is strong and light, easy to carry on.

**Q: Can this MAK70 telescope be used during the day?**
A: Yes, it is fully permitted for daytime use. It is very suitable when you use it to observe still life such as trees, flowers, mountains, buildings or animals such as horses, birds, bears, and the picture quality is high-definition. Because we have the support of mirror imaging prisms.

**Q: Where Made?**
A: For what I understand this telescope was manufactured by the one of the top telescopes manufacturers in the industry and it is based in China.

**Q: Amazing that you can take a picture of Jupiter's bands like the one you show above, which normally would require a much more expensive scope ?**
A: You can see the Jupiter bands. I recommend a good eyepiece. Taking pictures is hard as the telescope does not follow the object since it is not electronically driven.

*by M***Y on May 2, 2026*

I absolutely love this rig. Perfect to pull out and look at the moon on those nights you wish you had something way better than your binoculars. Great for beginners as its super simple to dial in. Great for older kids and adults. The tripod is a lot more sturdy than I thought it would be which is a huge bonus for the price point.
