A brilliant bit of kit!
Like me, if you occasionally like to online 'window' shop at gadgets and technology, you've probably seen all the dodgy Chinese sellers on the likes of Facebook claiming they are selling backlit TV lighting that mimics the technology of Phillips Ambilight technology (and all the bad reviews they get if you dig a little deeper if they work in the slightest) Well this is the real deal. Is it 100% spot on to what's shown on screen 100% of the time? probably not - EXCEPT if you're in a pitch black room. This is due to the camera picking up any light reflecting off the screen. My camera is installed below the screen so any daylight or lounge lighting will give my white ceiling a slight orange hue, which because of the angle of the camera is whaqt it can see. If it was top mounted, then in a similiar way, it would pick up the light off the tv cabinet below the TV. I was a bit confused as to why the LEDs weren't turned off at first when nothing was on screen, but then realised I could see it was picking up this colour by angling my head up from where the camera points (and can be seen when aligning the camera from the app) so the camera picks this up when the screen is black, so the LEDs don't turn off, but show this colour from behind the TV. For me, this really isn't offensive at all. It keeps up with scene changes and when there is content on screen it mimics it incredibly well. If you want a cinema experience then at night, or blackout blinds shut, then it really does SING. I've tried all the youtube ambilight demo videos and it looks immense. Flashes of lightning or colour orbs going across the screen, it follows it all incredibly well. This bit of kit is such ridiculously good value for what it does. - And even if you don't want the ever changing lights, the control over setting the individual sections to a paticular 'still' colour is fantastic. - I've got a kind of sunrise going on, with bright yellow/orange in the lower centre of the screen, going into oranges and red, before a sky blue at the top. It looks stunning. Without the camera or impressively good 'ambilight features' just this control and brightness/vividness of the LEDs is worth the cost of this item alone. Highly recommend!

Works surprisingly well
Having used fixed colour LEDs behind my previous TV, I was keen to try this product on my new TV. Installation of the LED strips is straightforward and the adhesive seems strong, so hopefully everything will stay in place. It's worth taking a bit of time to plan exactly where the LED strips should be placed and where cables are best routed. The control module also sticks to the rear of the TV using adhesive pads. The only issues I had were that the lead to the mains power adapter is a bit short so I can't currently route the lead where I'd like. Also, the camera fixing method needs a rethink by the manufacturer. Again self adhesive pads are used to fix the camera either at the top or bottom of the screen. However, many current flat panel TVs have very thin screens (mine is about 3mm) so the adhesive has very little to stick to, and any movement of the camera results in odd lighting effects as the calibration becomes incorrect. It would be useful if the manufacturer offered a few fixing options (or even a stand mount) for the camera. All that aside, once you've set the smartphone App up and turned the LED brightness down from 100% to a sensible level, you get a very nice effect that compliments the image on the screen. The LEDs respond quickly to changing scenes and the colour matching is very good. All in all, it is a worthwhile addition to your TV, just be prepared to spend a bit of time setting it up properly and possibly a bit of problem solving with fixing the camera. Quick update - I gave up trying to use the self adhesive pad to try to stick the camera to the edge of the screen. I found that a universal smartphone holder fits the base of the camera module perfectly, so I am using that mounted on a cabinet below the screen - it works perfectly and also provides a much better image of the screen for calibrating the camera on the mobile app.

Good but makes me want an ambilight tv
This takes a lot of tweaking to get right but it is good enough that it gives you a decent sense of immersion, although it just makes me want my Philips TV to be an ambilight one as now I see what people like about the ambilight system. Govees alternative is super easy to set up, but each strip has to take up one side of your TV. That means if its too long for your TV you need to stick down the start and end of the led strip and just have the excess bunched up in little loops. Unsightly but you won't see that as its behind your television. You can put the camera on the bottom of the TV, I have, as there is an option in the govee home app to allow for that although any lights you have that reflect off your TV screen will affect the backlighting as it will read that colour as on screen colour. In movie mode this is pretty good, its not perfect but its good enough that it does make a difference and does add a sense of depth and immersion. You can turn it on or off with google assistant or Alexa and it has different modes although I have only tried movie and game mode. Game mode reacts much quicker to colour changes but has a very irritating flicker whereas movie mode reacts slower but smoother. If you use these two modes remember to also choose the part option, not full, in its settings page when using the app as part will react to changes and allow different LEDs to show different colours on different sides whereas the full option only shows a single colour at a time all around the screen. If it was a tenner cheaper I would say this was a steal, as it is this is still a good option although feels a small amount overpriced. But still a decent budget alternative to ambilight.

Great product, especially for this price, and when compared with other brands.
So this was our first time getting RGB lights, we wanted it for our main TV 55inch LG BX OLED. Overall we are very happy with the product and what they can actually do. For 50 quid, you can't go wrong. I'd looked into Hue and others, I wasn't happy with the fact you can't play 120hz via HUE and their sync box. I like to get the most out of my PS5, so this was a must for me. The govee immersion kit allows this, as it is a camera picking up colour from your TV in pretty much instant response times. It's very impressive. It makes the image pop, and helps with further immersion. Genuinely works amazingly with games, films, TV even, and especially animations such as Moana, Teen Titans Go etc. Fortnite looks incredible too. I would advise a few of things though... 1. Get the light strips as close to the edges as possible. You can peel and adjust if needed but be careful. 2. You don't need to be in total darkness for them to work. But atleast turn off your ceiling lights or anything reflecting into the TV from your lounge area. 3. Turn saturation down to 0, this way it'll be closer to the colours on screen. But do get used to browns coming out as reds. Its close enough! 4. Use Game mode and partial lighting settings. These will ensure it is running at a faster response time, and to be honest it's near instant for me. 5. Get cable tie clips with adhesive backs, use these to stick the corner wires down tighter to your TV, otherwise the wires can get in the way and affect the lighting. You'll basically just see on the wall that there's wires dangling. 6. You really do just get used to the camera sitting above the TV. We used one of thw white boxes included to wedge between the base lip of the camera and the top back of the TV, this helps keep the camera steady. We then layer the lighting over the top of this when sticking it to the TV. I've used electrical tape to then tape the box securely to the TV. The camera is now much steadier. Without doing this the camera is barely holding on to our OLED panel as it is so thin. These last two tips were from a guy on youtube, give them a watch, just search govee immersion set up or something similar. All in all, very happy with the product, and would highly recommend.

Premium product at a low price.
First up easy to install, easy to configure brightness levels are brilliant, there's like a half a second delay but it's hardly noticeable, I mean for 70quid you can't go wrong , I've had govee lights before the 13.99 ones, unfortunately due to me moving I took them off the TV to re box it, so I decided to get this for the price I wasn't expecting much right, a wish version of Philip's ambilight...well guess what there not from wish straight out of box it felt like a premium peoduct, so easy to install I had no problems with and I'm not the most patient man but this was a breeze, plenty of YouTube videos if you get stuck. Like I said the only con was a half a second delay which ent really noticeable, now I left a video with me launching some games but I nearly had a childhood fit of pure joy when I was swinging in Times Square as spiderman on the PS5 I also watched black widow with it on. So impressed that I'm using govee to buy all my smart bulbs etc etc. The app has so many options I haven't got the time to list them all but all needs are being catered for the app is easy to install and easy to use, even for old fella like me, also I notice especially with gaming the picture pops a bit with a back light, it's also easy on the eye as in I play games for long periods and eye strain has always been a problem but not anymore. Really pleased with this purchase. If your sitting on the fence about getting it , don't dive straight in the water is lovely.

Seems good so far!
I bought the 55-65 version for a 55 Samsung TV. The light stripe fit exactly on each edge which means the the cable part between each strip sticks out. I've managed to twist the cable to hide it behind the TV. I didn't bother to check the sizes so probably my own fault. The tip of my TV was really thin so I actually attached the camera to the bottom of my TV. This also works well for me as it is then hidden behind my sound bar and not sticking out at the top. There's even an option when you calibrate it to tell the app you're using the camera at the bottom. Another issue with my TV is the the legs are flush to it on the back at the bottom. This meant I had to curve the cable around the top of them. The lights still seem to work well though. I was struggling with the calibration to being with but that was all my own fault again. The first time I set up up with the TV on when it needs to be off. Then I realised that when it asks if you did the cables clockwise or anticlockwise, it means as you look at the back but I was doing it as I was looking at the front. The colours do work well but when I used a test video on YouTube it struggled on the blue and green split and chose purple instead of blue. Beyond that it's good. On the weather forecast you can even see the blue cold weather moving up the sides which is a little depressing! Hoping to see the red a bit more soon!

Very pleased at this affordable device. Does what it says.
After installing a Philips ambilight TV for a relative, I was looking to find the same effect for my 65 inch Samsung TV. This product was advertised at a really good price if it could produce close to this effect onto my white wall (it only works correctly on white walls.) Packaging, content and instructions looked and felt very premium and instalation was somewhat painless. I opted to mount the camera at the base of the TV as my soundbar would completely hide it, and the set up app walked me through calibration without confusion (the foam pads that attaches to the TV for calibration removed without any damage or residue). Settings are vast for this product but I personally would only use video to project the TV screens colours onto my wall. I have set my options to brightness 100 and saturation to zero as this still gives the best colour accuracy with the benefit of showing a black screen as a soft white. Speed options I have went for game over the movie setting as this adapts to my TV colours at a quicker pace. I encountered one issue after hours of beautifully displayed colours where on Video setting the LED lights begun to strobe/flicker. This has been corrected after a restart of the hub that attaches to the back of your TV (I did have to recalibrate the device again) but touch wood it has not delevlped the flickering again. The accompanying footage shot does not represent what I see visually (greens and yellows are more pronounced)

Works great almost perfect
This product is actually really good it works as it says and is exactly what I've been looking for. Simple to set up even tho it looked complicated. Great brightness and control settings. And the match up with sound works consistently. Almost perfect as most products are, the lighting doesn't always match the right colour on certain random ones but nothing massively noticeable or impact full. It was slightly to big for my current rv but again no problem you can easily sort it w the tools provided. The camera is a little annoying but hey idm too much when I get the lights up and working with whatever I'm watching. Overall a solid product if looking for this or similar items very close to being perfect but worth it 100% price is fair and looks great at night so yh would recommend.
