Emergency Water Purification – Aquatabs Travel Pack Box of 50 (x 20)

Used these when hiking, where the water required no filtering for sediment, but was from stream sources or untreated water sources. These are designed to dilute a litre per tablet, which works well with standard water bottle sizes. It only takes 30 minutes before it's drinkable, and the taste is reasonable. I have also used them in conjunction with a water filter (Sawyer squeeze and a BeFree), where the water taste wasn't pleasant after filtering sediment. Their speed, efficiency, and taste, make them invaluable, even if it's just as a backup/precautionary measure.

What can one say about water purification tablets that has not already been said by the BME, FDA or other international medical review institutions...? Basically, they do what it says on the packet. Perhaps the one improvement that could be made is for the Aquatabs packaging team at Maclin to consider a slimline Plastic Pouch or Clip-top box, such that a significant number of these tablets could be kept safely in a weekend or bug-out bag, without fear of crushing...? The lack of such protective packaging is why I've knocked one star off your rating.

I got these for camping. They took forever to dissolve and the water tasted like the wrong end of a swimming pool. I actually double checked to see if they were for drinking water it was that nasty.

Manufacture date was 2018 and expiry date 2023 ! Wanted to leave these in a travel bag for travel…whenever, and had read that these kind of tablets last several years. Will buy on high-street next time where I can check for newer stock…
