Swimmers: use the proper tips AND secure them
I bought a pair of Surges and a pair of iHip AquaVibes at the same time. The first pair of Surges had a short right out of the package, but I've been swimming with the replacment pair for a couple of weeks now (and the Surges have a 1-year warranty, so that's good). The AquaVibes work fine, but don't sound as good as the Surges -- I'm keeping the AquaVibes as a backup pair for the day the Surges stop working and I have to buy a new pair/send them in under warranty. The sound quality of the Surges is surprisingly good for a set of waterproof headphones. I've owned regular headphones and earphones that didn't sound as good, so these are definitely good enough for working out, running, etc. if you're not a swimmer. One peeve: The plug housing is straight (as opposed to being a right-angled) and really long -- a little over 2" I'd guess, not including the actual plug you insert into your player. That can make your mp3 player more difficult to fit in waterproof bags/cases and makes it more likely that the plug will be hit against things or put under pressure, thus putting strain on your player's jack. I would MUCH prefer a right-angle plug -- if not a right-angled plug, a smaller straight plug, at least. Actually, two peeves: The box is a nightmare. It takes a great deal of effort to open the box without destroying it and you must either take off the tips that come on the earphones or cut through the strip of stiff plastic that is between the seated tips and the earphones (look at a picture of the box). Really unecessary and annoying; it's like opening a puzzle box. Some people say you can't swim/swim fast with waterproof headphones. You CAN!! A primer on swimming with waterproof earbuds: 1) They only work if they seal the ear canal 100%. The phones must seal out ALL water, leaving only empty air between the phone and the eardrum. If ANY water leaks in, you can't hear anything because the phones aren't powerful enough to conduct sound through water. This is the same with ALL waterproof earphones. The Surges come with five sizes of eartips; the ones that are already on the earphones worked great for me, there are two smaller sets and two larger sets. For swimming, pick the set that requires you to pull on your ear rim to insert and is borderline uncomfortable; you'll get used to it and it'll keep the water out. With five sets, EVERYONE should be able to find a pair that fits properly. I haven't had water get in once in half a dozen swims: I run the cord under, through (between the gap in back), and back around my goggle strap, carefully insert the headphones, jump in, swim laps, get out, towel off, remove headphones. Ta-da! Inserting earphones: a) Pull upward and out on the rim of your ear while inserting earphones and insert them well/far into your ear canal. b) Consider inserting the earphones with the wire pointing upward and slightly rearward and securing them/the wires in place with your goggle stap and/or a cap. 2) Given 1), you must take steps to ensure that your earphones don't get jostled or tugged on. If they move or get pulled on, they will leak. Use your goggle strap, and/or another strap, and/or a cap to keep the earphones securely in place and don't mess with them or take them out once you get set up. Finding the securing routine that works for you, your player, your goggles, your ears, and your cap will take some trial and error. A waterproof cap can also cut down on the swimming noise you hear while listening to music. If the eartips fit your ears properly, all it takes is a little trial and error with your set up and you'll be swimming up a musical storm in no time. I'm guessing most people with problems either had ill-fitting tips or didn't secure the earphones with straps/caps once they seated them.

Swimming with music is awesome
I started using waterproof earbuds after being sick and tired of wathching only people on dry land getting to hear music. I have used many different types of waterproof earbuds and have found All the earbuds I have tried has had something wrong with them. Most reviews I found were not in favor of these, or any, earbuds out there. But its the technology that is still new when it comes to waterproof earbuds. I gave these earbuds "5 stars" because in comparison to most others they offer the most without over inflating their prices. These waterproof earbuds as all regular earbuds don't have superior home threater sound, but the music doesn't sound bad either. All waterproof earbuds rely on an airtight seal to conduct sound waves. Which means you need to experiment with the different sizes provided and don't expect to get a real good work out that first day. As a safety mechanism the bud does go out when water comes in direct contact with it but it is easily fixable. So far the soft blue pads have held up pretty long. When they do finally wear out, they're pretty cheap to replace. This product offers a wider variety of sizes with good guality that has lasted me. Once I found my correct fit for each ear the buds hardly fall out. If they do its because of my error. They only thing I would change is the cord. Its way too long, maybe a retactable cord somehow would be better.

Exceeded Expectations!
After doing a little research on waterproof headphones I was very skeptical because of the varied results from users. However, as with anything, I decided to pick the item I thought to be the best and go with it to see for myself. The H2O Audio Surge 2 headphones worked as advertised and did not disappoint. It took me no longer to get setup than it did putting on my goggles. I wound the excess cord around my goggle band and clipped my waterproof iPod shuffle (another outstanding purchase!) to the band as well and off I went. The clarity was perfect for about 35 minutes when I got a little water in my left ear and the sound went out on that side, but the sound and clarity were still there in my right ear (which is the reason I gave only 4 stars). I did stop to clear the water from my left ear and the sound came back. I don't know if that is typical of all waterproof headphones, but I was happy just to hear music while I was submersed! It made my workout ten times more enjoyable than ever before and I found myself wanting to swim for another hour! My recommendation is to try out all the ear buds that come with the headphones to see which is the best fit. Typically, I wear a medium size earbud with headphones but decided to go with the small bud because it seemed to be a better fit and provided a better seal.

Inferior product at a high price
I purchased the Waterfi Waterproof iPod Shuffle Swim Kit. An amazing product. I'm not sure which headphones came with it, but the headphones worked for about 10 swims, then then one side went completely out (all troubleshooting failed). So I decided to purchase what I thought were the top-of-the line headphones, boy was I wrong. From my first swim until #8 or so I decided that this was a completely wasted purchase and I ended up getting Pyle PWPE10W which are outstanding at a low price which I'll get to later. 1) The sound quality is very poor, even out of the water. The bass "boost" distracts from the quality and the sound is not in the ballpark of the Pyle PWPE10W which are very clear and crisp in or out of the water. 2) The fit is terrible. The buds are poorly designed and do not provide a good seal (yes I tried all of them). Under the tips, it says to rotate the bud to adjust for sound. This is absurd! You shouldn't have to play around with the ear buds, ESPECIALLY rotate!!! Yes, the sound varied as I rotated, but it never stayed good, never sounded good, and always leaked at some point. 3) The price is almost 3 times higher than the Pyle PWPE10W, but not even 10% as good. Buy the Pyle PWPE10W instead for $13. They fit perfectly. They don't leak. They provide a tight seal. They sound incredible. They are affordable. I really have nothing positive at all to say for H2O IE2's. Very disappointed. I will stick with the Pyle PWPE10W's.

Not for the long run
I bought these in March of 2011 and have used them 3 times a week since then. The fit was good, I did not have many problems with leaking once I found my size. The sound quality was tolerable, not great, but I didn't expect a lot from them. Sometimes I wished that they were capable of slightly higher volume without distortion. Especially when listening to spoken word podcasts or audiobooks the volume would either be too soft to hear, or distort badly at higher volumes. My main complaint with the headphones is the wire/wire covering. After 18 months of 2-3x per week of use, the wire coverings have split along their entire length from earbud to split. This began almost a year ago when they were six months old. And at this point, the upper portion is completely covered with electrical tape. As a result of this loss of integrity, the sound quality has gone down immensely. I'm now looking for a replacement and I won't be buying these again.

The best ear-buds on the market, bar none!
These ear-buds are so good that I gave them a five star rating even though one of the pair that I received (I’ve bought several pairs), was defective. However, the company took care of this right away, and I was back with a new pair in less than a week. The quality of sound of these is astonishing. I have been a swimmer for years, and have tried all kinds of water-proof MP3 players. I found one which is also the best on the market called the Diver, also sold on Amazon,, but as is the case with even the best players, their ear-buds were just okay, and a bit uncomfortable. So, I splurged and bought these ear-buds, and after hearing them for the first time, I felt like Dorothy walking through the grim black-and-white Kansas into the Technicolor Oz. It also showed off just how good the player was, since the sound quality was as HD as you can get. Full range, crisp highs, clear middle range, and real “woofer” type base. And of course they are water-proof as well. Because of the sound quality and comfort of these buds (they come with half a dozen different ear bud sizes, but the one supplied fits perfectly), I now can easily swim two or more hours, since they put you into another world, where you forget time and place. I have tried over a dozen other types of water-proof ear-buds, and again, none of the others come even a third of the way to the quality of these gems. They are worth every penny, and best yet, this company truly cares about their product, and are right there to help you, and take care of any problems, and totally back their products, not only through the warranty period, but way, way beyond. If you are looking for water-proof ear-buds… look no further. There are no others of this quality on the market!

Very Disappointed in the inefficiency
After reading these reviews, I decided to go with this selection of waterproof earbuds because it offers the different size earbud choices and the fact that having a water tight seal is the most important for sound quality on this type of headphone. Surely one of the choices would fit perfectly, right? Wrong! I have tried all sizes from XS to L and all of them had the same effect, the water tight seal in the inner ear was broke and water got into the headphones. When the water gets in you lose almost all ability to hear the music and it is virtually impossible to get another water tight seal going and you'll spend the rest of your workout wasting time adjusting and trying. I do a half hour of deep water running and then I swim laps for about another half hour. The first half hour of my workout I had no issues with them and the sound quality was great, but keep in mind, I was not under water. For this reason, if you are using them for anything other than swimming, I think they could be a good product. However, I suspect as I started sweating the water tight seal losened up so when I started swimming, the movement through the water was just enough after a few laps to move them so water seeped in. You MUST put them in when your ears and headphones are dry to get the water tight seal or you can forget it. The only difference I found in trying different sizes was that the bigger sizes hurt my hears more because of the pressure created forming the water tight seal in the ear canal, and it didn't prevent the leak from happening. I am going to have to purchase a different pair now and hope for the best with the next ones, because these did not work and I'm out $30 plus shipping. Very disappointed.

In a word, UNBELIEVABLE!
Folks, IF you really want to listen to audio during a water/swim workout, IMOHO sound does NOT come better than with these H2O Audio IE2-BK Surge 2G Waterproof Sport In-Ear Headphones. Trust me, trust me, trust me, you will NOT be disappointed! I purchased a pair of these, to work in tandem with a waterproof iPOD shuffle player-unit (purchased from WaterFi, also via Amazon.com) to accompany me in my swimming in my own backyard pool and at the outdoor AND indoor pool of my health club gym. (See my review for the WaterFi product - a GREAT item, also!). For heavy-duty swimming, I also purchased a Speedo latex bathing cap (easier way to ensure earbuds stay in my ears) and water googles. DH told me "you look like Diana Nyad With Tunes!" To me, NOTHING is better in the world than coming home to your own tunes on your WaterFi, listening to your own music, with deeper UNREAL bass sound under the water! And, no need to worry about your music YOU like to hear bothering your neighbors (or even others in your "swimming space"!) over local neighborhood "sound control issues" and/or listening to your DH's radio broadcasts of the local baseball game on the patio speakers... PLUS they're GREAT to wear when you're topping off your health club workout in the hot tub, listening to your fave audio tunes while you soak your pains and cares away (and avoid chatting with people you really don't care to strike up conversations with!). Worth the money? Absolutely! After a year and a half, they're fully functiona1! This company supplies several sizes of blue "ear buds" with the earphones to fit any human ear! I was surprised how good they fit and feel! Great product! IMOHO, a "MUST-BUY"!! :)
