All you need
Iโd have to say I was skeptical at first but MacBook recognized it immediately, along with ableton Live, and An old Casio. Start and stop midi no problem with this easy to use device. If you donโt know how to control external midi equipment, this is Day one and this is the cord you need

Didn't work for me
The device appears to be very susceptible to noise. The moment I plugged in my keyboard, the in light started blinking very rapidly. Only about 10% of the messages seem to make it to the computer. Completely unusable. These devices probably do not provide proper ground isolation and so you chance of success is somewhat hit or miss. You might get lucky. I suspect it would work if I were to power my keyboard with batteries but I did not try. It's headed back and I'll procure something of higher quality.

Compatibility issues.
The unit has no driver. It functions without one but different keyboards work differently. One keyboard locks up notes. This same keyboard works fine with the M-Audio adapter. It works well with another keyboard which also works well with the M-Audio adapter. All my other keyboards work with the M-Audio.

USELESS. DOES NOT WORK.
This product absolutely can not translate midi over USB. You need something else. The idea is nice, the execution not so much.

It worked...sort of. But not really.
I had a dream...a dream of hooking up my old iPad into my system, and utilizing all the great softsyth apps in my studio. I had an old Arturia Player 25 keyboard, so I got the Gelrhonr MIDI interface, a USB breakout, and a little Behringer u-Phoria UM2 to run the audio into my mixer, hooked it up, and....nothing happened. To make a long story bearable, the Gel let me play the softsynths with the Arturia, but I got no sound at all; or, I could play the virtual keys in the apps, and get sound, but couldn't use MIDI. I couldn't play the Arturia, and get sound out at the same time. I tried everything I could think of, including buying a mini TRS to 1/4" TS splitter cable (bypassing the UM2), a different hub, etc., but nothing worked. I finally came to the conclusion that I might need a different MIDI interface. I ordered up an iConnectivity mio; same basic size and function as the Gel, a tiny bit more expensive (ok, $36 vs $10), and swapped it out, and suddenly everything just worked. I have no idea what they could have done to screw up such basic functionality, or why MIDI would shut down the audio, but quite simply, it did. The mio, on the other hand, worked perfectly, so I sent the GELRHONR back, and that's the end of that. Regarding the ratings: 5 stars for "Easy to recognize." I suppose. It looks like a 1x1 MIDI interface; not exactly a style contest here. 1 star for "Value for money." It must work for somebody, right? And it *is* inexpensive, so if it works for you, then it's certainly a lower price than the mio; but it doesn't work in all scenarios, in which case it's worthless. 2 stars for "Quality of material." I don't really have a quibble with the construction, until I factor in the fact that the construction includes the software and programming, which clearly didn't work.

The product would turn on a work for about 2 minutes before shutting down and being unresponsive. I switched usb port and it worked again for about 2 minutes before turing off. I don't know if you need to be sending consistent signal in order for it to work but it won't work for my application

I was about to purchase a Mini Midi keyboard to help assist me with Creating my beats in Garageband till I had forgot my large Yamaha One sits and collects dust in the corner of my room! I didnt want to spend too much money on a 5 pin cable in case it didnt work well hence this keyboard being so old so i stuck it out and spent the $14.00 (cheapest I could find here). My expectations were definitely low but Once I plugged it it hit Duo on my keyboard Connected it to my phone with an OTG cable I was easily able to record, no latency issues at all and its certainly a plug & Play! I havnt tried it on my computer yet but iโll try and update how it goes on my computer. Overall 10/10 and its works great for my specific needs!
